Good Day Folks,

I think I can share this piece of info just in case anyone else have this problem. Well, I am using wireless connection and few days ago I discover this. Here it is .....

I was playing BF2 all alone and I assumed it was patch 1.22 problem. I was haivng this connection problem and I didn't think it's from my end. I didn't bother much.  I was getting "There is a problem with your connection" messege ever few sec but I was never getting disconnected for this. Well, you guessed right.....I was constantly getting KILLED like a fat sitting duck So, I was playing as a commander all the time until I get bored. So I started to play Day Of Defeat:Source and I found my game freezing up few seconds. Well, that really pissed my off. I started to analyze what's going on. So, I hook up my PC with wire to test and the PROBLEM is GONE ! Now I chekced my signal strength and it was 60% - 99% and the NOISE level was extremly HIGH. I am not yet sure if the NOISE level is good or bad. So, what I did was change the Channel 6 to 7 and the PROBLEM is GONE and I can play without any problem. I spent a few days trying to figure it out where the problem is cuz it just started for NO reason. Everything was fine, I am also sure I didn't change anything but all I sudden, it started. I was able to browse websites without problem but only online games was giving me such problem. As I mainly/only play BF2 at this moment, it took me a long time to know that it was my wireless router. Change the channel and the problem in gone

Just thought it might help someone else.

Thanks

Interesting. I've used wireless so far without problems, but if I encounter one I'll try changing channel. Thanks.

I'm having exactly the same problem! When we had LAN, (100mps), I was fine but this new Belkin 54g wireless network we have sucks. How do I change channel? BTW Thanks, I may have a chance of getting my K/D ratio up now

If changing channel solves the problem for you. Then, there is a chance that your neighbor is using the same channel as you, thus, interfering with each other. If changing channel eliminates the problem, I suggest you change your channel to either of the following, channel 1,6 or 11. Those are the recommended non-overlapping channels.

You can change your channel on your wireless router configuration settings.

i think u have the same router as me, firstly type in

192.168.2.1 into the address bar, then you'll have to log into the router, then go to channel and network ssid or something similar on the menu on the side, then change it there, then apply settings

a big thing with certain wireless cards (at least mine) when i first started playing BF2 is WZC (Windows Zero Configuration). in-game every 60 or so seconds i would lose connection for 5 seconds which would make me a sitting duck. this happened for the first 100+ hours of playing battlefield. it was so frustrating but i knew it was something on my end because it was happening at exact intervals. i installed the connection software provided by linksys for my card and it was gone. i'm still working on getting my spec ops KDR up from 1.19 which is what i exclusively played when i started.

Ok thanks dude

While I'm here and you know what you're doing, we're having a problem with the network. My dad's HP (rather old) can't connect to the net while I'm connected, I have to disconnect then reconnect after him. Even after this, my dad's computer isn't getting any reception randomly, for about a minute at a time.

Last thing, did changing the channel do anything for you? Like reducing lag etc etc

Thanks again

Is he running wireless aswell? it may be a good idea, especially for his pc (haha consequently my dad's got an old HP aswell) to set up the router in the room with his  pc and connect to his pc via LAN cable, you should be able use it. The router's purpose is to allow both of your computers to connect to the net, im not sure exactly why that is happening. Make sure there is no security on it(WEP, WPA etc.) (for now anyway) that could be stoppin it aswell. If none of those help, i do not know what would be wrong without having a look at it myself... Maybe you could ring the belkin customer service centre.. they may help better then i can haha

oh and changing the ssid thing, i thought at first worked, but i think i chose the wrong channel, i switched it over to channel 6 from 3 (which was the one ichanged to from 11), but havnt tested it on bf2 yet sorry cant help you with thatta one
