What is your take on the purple heart?

I cant seem to get it... but my friend has it and when I told him how he got it, he said tht couldnt be right... so...

How many6 of you guys got it? I really dont want to "try" to get it... ruining my K: D ratio(which really isnt that great anyway) but still...

what are you guys' take?

Its a medal...it completes the collection. Certainly dont aim to get it, unless your team really is that bad and you are playing that badly.
Although I have it, I got it in good style. I managed to get 5/20 due to my team being crap and getting spawncamped at an uncappable base for about 10mins. We finally broke free and I changed that to 25/21 whilst being on foot as a medic and came top of our leaderboard. Didnt get a gold/silver/bronze, but it was quite amusing.

u need at 5 kills and 20 deaths MINIMUM.

after that, its anything that is a 1:4 Kill to death ratio.

so after 5:20 itl be 6:24
then 7:28 and so on...

i dont suggest getting it tho, it aint a sign of greatness really...

Um, I havent got it yet, but I reckon if I had all the other awards I would get it. IRL purple hearts are pretty good I think? Well I know they all got 'em at the end of Pearl Harbour, but on BF2 its definitely a wooden spoon kind of award. I think if we really wanna no he correct answer we have to think;

Pretty cool considering that BF2 is my first FPS game. (I've been lucky )

Its the award you get to make you feel better when get spawn camped/Artillery on your head followed by bombs from a J-10.

or

when you join a server that has one sucky team pushed back to a single flag, you get suck on the sucky team and like a "dumb ass noob" you continue to spawn and manage to eak out 5 kills.

If your sad enough it will come to.

Hey, I got it too, we were all noobs at one point.

The Purple Heart was put in the game for when you are getting spawnkilled, That little drumroll plays and the purple teletubbie award rolls out to make you forget about the shitty game your having. Then people found BF2s and found out the stat requirements and found "OH SHIT! I Sucked for a round!" After a scene taken from TheCryingGame, you ponder this:

And it kind of fit with the requirements for getting the medal. +1 EA/DiCe for realism.

At my last PERSONAL count I have 17.

But I'll try any wild suicidal trick once, or twice if I ALMOST did it.

I don't really care. Points OK, badges, I don't really have any concern with.

I figure it means I'm getting in there and not hiding out or being sneaky.

I'd rather be the loud distraction that draws all the fire and lets my team smash 'em while they're wasting ammo on me.

Just got one last week on Sharqi while trying for my Vet Medic Combat ... I was trying to get the badge with just the kit (no air, armor, or commander use). In this particular round we had no commander, and it seems that I was getting a tank round in the face, a arty on the helmet, or a an unlucky spawn just about every minute. I think I ended up with 8 K and 22 D.

The very next round, we had a great commander who kept that UAV humming and with frequent, relevant spots. I got 24 K and 22 D using just the medic kit. I now proudly display my Veteran Medic Badge, a Bronze Medal and a Purple Heart from that evening.

And yea i also have one.
in my opinion its (maybe not everytime you got one) an award:
When i got my purpleheart i got owned because my team was a bunch of shitheads, but i didnt go out find another server and leave like a coward.
at least i got a jet and bombed them to hell

For those of you that think that getting a purple heart in real life is a good thing you are mistaken.

The Purple Heart is the enemies Marskmanship badge. In other words, if I shoot you you get the award. Not a good feeling to be injured by the enemy in any way shape or form.

I have about 10 buddies that were awarded the Purple Heart, 4 of them are not with us anymore...

I "earned" mine trying to get my basic knife badge. Not really a medal I'm proud I have, but I had a really bad round of swinging a plastic knife.
