This is something I've never tried before, and from the chaotic avalanche of useless "just use your USB sound" replies from Google searches on the matter, I decided to save myself a few hours and just ask here:

Equipment:

Work comp
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 (lol, I know...)

Issue:

Cannot output Sound Blaster audio through USB headset.

Goal:

Play at least audio from Sound Blaster on USB headset. I don't care what handles the mic.
If there's no software solution or a cheap adapter for this, I'm just going to replace the headset.

USB headset as default sound device?

Let me illustrate:

If I switch default device to the Audigy 2, no audio will play over the headset. What I was hoping for was an easy fix. Otherwise, I'll just replace the headset with an analog one.

When you use a USB headset you are essentially using it as a sound device (not using a sound card at all). You have to choose using the output from sound card or the usb. Not aware of being able to bridge the two.

In my last build i did not even add an explicit sound card. The sound from using a USB head was just as good to my old ears.

Yup. I was just asking if anybody was aware of a way to do it.
