People are getting calls from my google voice number

...but I am not calling them.

So, I got a call from someone I know today saying they were returning my call. They had obviously called my GV number as I have it set so that I can screen those calls. He said it wasn't the first time he has gotten a call from me at this number. The odd thing is, I have only ever used the number for my business and have never actually called this guy(from any number). He has the number programmed on his phone because I am on the board of the gallery and he works at the gallery, so he has called me on it before.

When I looked this up on google the only suggestion that I could find was that it could be telemarketers spoofing a random "local" number to get someone to answer the phone. What are the odds that someone I know got spoofed with my number?

Anyone else use GV? Have this happen?

iirc google voice connects through a server in CA. I wonder if it's a shared main line .. so to speak. I know when I use google voice to call on my phone what it is doing is calling a CA number, then calling me back, and then connecting the two. Did he repeat the number that called him back to you?

It does sound random. I've been using google voice since it was in beta and have never had that happen. Could just be a glitch.

fyi there is a google voice call back app in the android market that will ask you which number you want to use (if you picked a separate number for gvoice) whenever you make a call. Very useful for quick access to your gvoice number.
