I can honestly say I have never been in a situation nor know anyone who's ever been in a situation where a gun was a necessary line of defence.
Kimber 1911 Super Carry Ultra HD
Seven .45 ACP rounds, it's small, although somewhat bulky and uncomfortable without some type of holster.
The sights are pretty good too, but you probably won't need them in a self-defense situation as most times it's almost point blank (from what I hear).

Ditto. In fact my best line of defense is that I'm incredibly likeable and charming. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to talk down a situation that develops when out drinking with friends and a random stranger tries to start shit.Jaekus wrote:

Fuck you ghetto. I detest how likeable and charming you are.
I challenge you to fisticuffs.

to be fair you're not going to talk a mugger or a house burglar out of fucking up your shit because you're "nice personable guy".ghettoperson wrote:

i don't think anyone is carrying a weapon in america to try and disarm drunken fights. except dumb gang-bangers.

That's true, but I'm still of the opinion that handing over my wallet and phone is a much better outcome than pulling a gun on them. The only situation in which I think a gun would be useful is if someone is out specifically to kill/seriously injure you. And you don't know that until its too late. Not that I think guns should be banned, but I think using them for self defence in public is a little pointless.
Is there some type of training required for a concealed carry permit like handgun training? The last thing I want is a bunch of armed idiots running all over the place.

(the above is not a dig at all Americans, though doubtless some will assume as such anyway)
It's more true than you'd like, though. You'd think there would be a requirement to know basic firearm safety to purchase one, but sadly there's not. Everyday you see stories about people being accidentally shot, too, because someone keeps a loaded gun in a dresser drawer or shoots themself in the arm while high and holding two pistols.
I don't like the idea of a dumb person with a gun. I'd hate to see somebody innocent get hurt because some retard wanted to be a hero.

Yeah I know it's a cultural difference from where I grew up and live, but I find it strange that you can get a licence and a gun (rifle) by the age 18 and yet can't drink till 21? The first two are more likely to kill other people than the person in control of said vehicle/firearm, whereas alcohol is only really gonna fuck yourself up if you're being irresponsible.DesertFox- wrote:

Both will kill you if you're irresponsible, and alcohol is a more common factor in death than guns.

shifty do you ever pause for self-reflection? you're the dumbest member on this forum... and you're the most vocally eager about getting your hands on a gun.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Oh no don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's always incorrect. He's just always negative and it's freaking annoying. Go to a fecking spa or something and relax, don't come on here being a douchebag 24/7.

So you admit he's right about you being one of the morons you don't want with a gun you were talking about?

on the contrary
i think it must suck to be you, hence my negativity directed at you
if you want to see life-suckish negativity going in a vicious loop at one's self, look at hurricane's posts, not mine.

Do you have reading comprehension issues? I said that he isn't always incorrect. That was a general statement, it wasn't directed at any particular post.Finray wrote:

For the record, I know how to handle weapons quite well, and I know idiots who don't, therefore I am not being hypocritical when I say that there should be training issued that must be passed before somebody can get a CWP or an accident could happen.
Hatin' on my religious views and gun control views is stupid. We all have our opinions. Some people, unfortunately, have massive e-penises they like to wave around and slap people in the face with when they don't agree with something.
You can hate all you want, in the end, I'm not the stuck up person who likes to think he's more intelligent than everybody.
