i'm still sticking by the fact it was fine. "i was loathed to" is an idiom and doesn't need to make perfect grammatical sense. it's equivalent to saying "i hated to", you don't have to read it so narrowly and syntagmatically as to get 'i was hated to'.
So you're saying because its slang its right?

Somehow I expected better.

no i'm not saying it's right-- i even said the grammatical correctness doesn't matter. the meaning is still communicated fine. considering i'm having a long continued chit-chat on an internet forum, i didn't expect some 40 year old to make it an hour-long mission to prove to me that i shoulda dropped the 'd'. can you handle the fact i used the word 'shoulda', there? maybe i should produce some essays to prove to you (and myself!!!!!!!) that i can type in formal english? maybe i'll save my self-confidence by looking at my degree certificate!!!!1 omg!!!

you're a fucking moron sometimes, kampf
How have i failed every job application?
I never had to pull a 'personal string' for a job, only for the location.

I have never failed a job application, so far i have been hired at every job i have applied for. And whats wrong with taking a students job on the side even if your education is financed?
I did, i know many other people that did/do it. it gives you a little extra cash so you can buy the shit that you want when you want it and meet new people. I honestly dont see a problem with that.

You are a fucking cunt every day arent you, Uzique?
gb2 making facepalm posts in sc2. i didn't need extra cash during my undergrad years and if i wanted to meet new people i'd go out, instead of wanting to sit at a check-out in walmart attempting to make friends with the 'shifty' method. you retard.
Meeting new people is just one of the benefits that come with it, same as with going out. You rarely go out to make new friends, it just happens. You don't have to be a creepy fuck at a checkout.
gb2 to making posts on how a game used to be during its glory days

for your first job application it's a plus yeah but once you start your career noone is interested in whether or not you worked at mcdonalds or the supermarket on the weekends, might as well drop it from your CV by that time.

It's good to earn a little money next to studying but it really doesn't have much value for your career as a post grad.

kampf you're like the dutch unnamednewbie, and dutch people are inherently far worse than americans.

i'm sure if i ever felt that i didn't have enough friends in my life that i'd go apply for a job at the local supermarket. i'm sure it's a social renaissance.

on all my application forms for UCL, cambridge and RHUL there was a page with a list of tick-boxes saying 'please list which retail outlets you have performed mundane tasks for'. i really panicked at that bit!!!!!

You CV is something to think about when your study is at an end. I dont think anyone puts their first shitty job on there, only when applying for your 2nd job, so they know you have work experience

When did i say that you need a job to make friends?
I said it was one of the benefits. No one goes working at a supermaket to make friends, thats just retarded. Theres better places for that, like school and such.
Why must you go on and on about a point that was never even made in the first place?

And do we really have to drag national stereotypes into this? I dont see what any of that has to do with this.

his point was that any career doesn't give a shit what crappy part-time jobs you had as a teenager to get cash. nobody can argue that they worked at a supermarket because they wanted to further their 'vocational skills'. it's obvious that it's just for cash to buy cigs and clothes. i didn't need cash. it's cringeworthy when people write on their CV's that they had xyz job at age 15 and it "helped me develop teamwork and public interfacing skills". please. you swept a floor in a newsagents so you could buy weed. an advertising agency in the city aren't going to be tripping over one another for a candidate because he was a bar-man for 2 years and learnt really good networking skills!!!!

I just find it odd you mixed up the two words, its not a grammatical error.

You should have dropped the 'ed' actually.

Here they just like to see if youve worked before.
Its handy when applying for a proper job to have worked at a supermarket or some other shitty student job so they know youre not some lazy shit that has done nothing (semi-)productive in all those years.
