IIRC it takes what, 30 minutes for a nuclear weapon launched from the US to reach Russia? Yes, we can definitely hit targets more quickly and without foreign bases.
i always thought part of the point of international satellite bases was for intervention-technology, legal loopholes (in the case of the middle-east/certain shitholes), and a harder chance of having a launch detected.
Yea... I saw them a hubs in-case the US needed to ramp up a military presence or for logistical support. However, we've got carriers that are more than capable platforms.
Yeah but you don't always have a carrier lying around. Satellite bases have their advantages, moreover they're absolutely necessary if you're eyeing a deployment in another country. Clinton for example intended to go into Afghanistan after the USS Cole, but he couldn't get basing rights in Uzbekistan. You got them after 9/11.
Anyway you
can leave the majority of your bases. There is absolutely little reason if any to have as many military bases within the EU as you do. Keeping those you have in the ME around however wouldn't be a bad idea.
edit; wops Iraq, Afghanistan ofc
