Actually, it'd be interesting to see how many people are actually killed in cold blood in the states, ie murders where the other person is a complete stranger and has put up no resistance what-so-ever.

I wasn't implying that guns increased murders in cold blood.. I was implying the opposite, actually - that is the only good purpose of a gun in my opinion.

However, I tend to believe that these kind of murders are extremely low, so the point is gone.

You may think it's good to have to avoid getting mugged or whatever, but can it not turn a 'standard' mugging into a nasty gunfight? I wouldn't take those chances.

The funny part is that I'm an expert shot with pistol, shotgun, rifle, M203 and machine gun Only made marksman with hand grenades though. I enjoy shooting guns. It's fun. But I had enough of carrying them around with me day in and day out and can't comprehend why a civilian would want to do so. It's just another hassle and life provides enough as is.
