They came out 2 days ago for other cards though already modified inf file is in them
I normally do not use beta drivers but if you have nvidia based card I higly recommend these
I've gained about 10 fps when in solid action meaning lots of moving objects rendering etc, my card is 7800GS but on guru3d forums people say over 1000 on benchmarks
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1397

these already have modified .inf so you don't have to play with it, they even added bf2 to game profile list

alpinestar, what Vid card did you have before the 7800GS (AGP)? How much better is BF2?
I have a 256mb ATI 9550, with all settings on medium, with no AA or shadows.

No increase in 3DMark05 score(6510).  So it make just be BF2 related intirely.

I had ati x800 xt pe before the mvoe to 7800gs and it is much better in my opinion
I have gained around 10 fps to 70 fps at 1600 x 1200 all on hi but texture filtering so I see very noticable difference someone said on guru3d forums that it helped with counter strike source too, you might wanna try ingame difference rather than 3dmarking it, different engine different requirements I guess

I have a 6600 GT PCI-I.
I might try those drivers, but... well, they are beta! let's wait till they release the proper version.

Think an improvement will be seen with a vanilla 6600? I'm asking as new drivers are usually directed at the 7 series cards.

this beta driver was developed primarily to capitalise on the release of Oblivion a while back... its not a new driver, in fact there is a further one ahead of this beta, .43 i think...

ive been using it since it was released, with no issues whatsoever.  it allowed me to push my overclock profile a tad higher on my 7800gt.. (currently about +10-15% above default - im sitting at 485 @ 1.15) bf2 cruises for me with max settings on everything, at around 80fps across all maps.

dont fear beta drivers.  if they dont work for u, revert to most recent alpha. no biggie.

and yes, most driver releases these days are released with increasing focus on the latest chipsets, so u may get SOME benefit on your 6600, but dont expect it to give u 20 extra fps dude....

Im really noticing how good this driver is now, after increasing settings and loosing very little frame rates makes the game a whole new experience. really good stuff.....

Uhhh, fyi, alpha's are less stable than betas.

Alpha, then Beta, then Release.

these drivers are awesome. for multiple reasons. 1: it allows you to play GRAW, whereas before the framerate was capped at 20 with nvidia cards (driver issue, resolved with betas). 2: as stated above, .inf file already modified, better fps all around, with anything. 3: my old rig runs a 6600gt (current running x1900xt oc), and i DID get a 18fps average increase. 4: with ANY nvidia card you will get a performance increase, and its take that increase now or wait 1-3 months for it...your choice.

i have never had a problem with a beta driver, but you can always revert, and yes, alphas are less stable then betas...if you cant figure it out, just reinstall the ones from your CD that came with the card and click "update" (cant remember location in nvidia window, srry).

Did funny things to my 6600 256MB, I lost fPS in certain areas of maps etc.  I had to revert back to 84.27 or whatever it is at right now.  Sounds like the latest chipset gets the most benefit.  TBH though it worked really great on some maps but bugged out others... weird.

This sounds great. I can't wait to get home from work to test these out on my 7800gt.
