If theres only one j-10 raping the carrier and 2 uss's are there manning, i am sure the j-10 would be dead even if he didnt return to the base. Why do u say so? Because the uss essex missles somehow is attracted to the j-10s heat signature.

- Double Uss Essexs' = An unstoppable carrier
I have yet to see 2 players who man both SS and Phalanx on a ranked game. Not even on Wake.l.........
Well, people like to wait on the carrier for their vehicles that will never come because its maxxed out and they love to sunbake on the decks of the carrier instead of sitting inside a sheltered uss essex:DSgt.Davi wrote:

Too bad you can't pilot the carrier into the middle of the Wake atol.. That should be fun.
Oh, the good old Bf'42 times
But most of the times I try to get in the Essex. A couple of easy kills, especially in the beginning of the round.

It's probably because the second Phalanx is so far away, that by the time you get there, the planes or w/e will be long gone. The second Phalanx also have a smaller area of attack, so I just doesn't pay off. And since is so far away, it will take longer time to sprint to an empty vehicle, giving respawners plenty of time to take it before you.Sgt.Davi wrote:

yeah all joking aside..
i think that no one mans the second gun because:
a) its too far away from their precious jet
b) that AA gun doesnt have a view of the main vehicle spawn and therefore can't take out any baseraping helicopters..
c) most of the shots fired from the Phalanx hit off the carrier so they're not actuallly being used in combat..
just my opinion though.. i;ve got a good few kills in using that gun.. (we had 2 noobs who constantly tried to rape the carrier with the Z-10.. lol.. they called me a hacker for scoring kills with the Essex when they'd "destroyed the AA gun already"
(excuse the spelling mistakes if there are any.. i'm just up.. )
unstoppable ?? But it's not going anywhere, this is not bf1942 where we had great sea battles!! I really miss them!!
Remember Midway???

Some of the best AA kills I got was with the second AA gun on the Essex.... as most people do not know it. All of the pilots blow up AA1...... AA2 is almost allways unscratched.

This is starting to annoy me, so I'll clear it up for everyone. The USS Essex is the aircraft carrier, the guns are called a Phalanx.
It doesn't matter if both are manned, just do barrel rolls away from the carrier and you won't get touched by any of the missles.

i've seen both turrets get manned a few times. in my experience it hasn't made much of a difference because, as most of us who've ever been in those carrier turrets know... the jets often come from unexpected angles or when they do come right down your line of fire they come pretty fast. having an advantage from both turrets would require that both turrets are aware of the jet and can both lock it.
mostly the turret on the rear end is the first target. sitting in there aiming on an average skilled pilot means death in most cases. but pilots rarely expect that the other turret is manned. it can take down the jet easily while it tries to escape. but nobody takes the fancy to run and climb up a ladder to man the turret.
How about a screen shot of that second phantom gun you guys are talking about!
you really dont know about it?[FHF]MattyZ wrote:

hah, unstoppable!
Just aproach the carrier from 600 feet up,go straight down and cut the engine. The only way a decent pilot is going to get downed by an essex is through carelessness

Yeah!
or fly in full thortlle so he doesnt have enough time to lock on, fire your shots, then dive down pull left hard (assunming you are approching from starboard to the main spwan area) fly at 2-3 m and fly in the direction the ship is heading; that way they cant ever down you. If you are followed by misssiles, keep turnuing left hard, to fly around the carrier as low as you can go. eventually the missiles crash into the ship, and might even happen to hit someone (i was so laughing so bad when i suddenly seeSargeV1.4 wrote:

Nope. Any decent pilot will tell you to attack the guns isolated. And on the escape route there's always the carrier superstructure to protect you.
I always take the same route, it's never failed me:
Approach from high up, take out the Essex, then fly off to the far side of the carrier using the whole building thingy to shield yourself from a lock. Then just fly up again when you're out of sight, and get rid of the main Essex

Yes it is true. Only a very smart J-10 Pilot will be able to survive/ kill guys on carrier/ kill essex dude. Or a cordinated J-10 team. But mostly the guys who come near the Essex are the noob pilots who want a better K/D ratio by baseraping. They miss all the Blackhawks and Cobra's, but can get them while they're on the ground, ready for take off.
A real pilot knows how and is able to kill helicopters in flight.

I'm yet to meet an essex gunner that was capable of taking me out when I give him the jump + I have flares + it only takes me 2 seconds of gunfire to kill it

It takes about a nanosecond of gunfire from the Phalanx to kill a jet, it's just a matter of hitting them. Almost everyone aims right at the jets, missing it by a lot..you have to aim above it, so the jet flys into the bullets. It's an almost gauranteed kill if I see a jet. If I don't see it in time..I'm dead.SargeV1.4 wrote:
