I don't think they're a waste of time or worthless like lowing does but I do think they are really overvalued. I don't think they'll all crash and burn like most of the dotcoms in the late 90's but I do think their valuations will go down drastically.
I can see a future for groupon, twitter, and linkedin and their services but just not for facebook. But that's a different issue..

Facebook isn't going anywhere anytime soon. What happens in the future depends on how (if) they adapt and change.

That's how I feel about it. Groupon, Linkedin, and Twitter all already have better structure to accommodate businesses than facebook. If facebook can't at least match those sites when it comes to that they'll be just another social network relying on advertising and at the mercy of human fickleness. Much like the other media networks that facebook helped kill.Kmar wrote:

People generally don't care about following a business on facebook or twitter at all. The value in these networks is ad space and aggregate data.. which means they're looking for the platform that is going to get them the most views and information.

I just hope they don't ruin Facebook by changing it a huge amount in an attempt to compete with Google+.
