Doom 3 scares didn't last long. After one or two monster closets, the effect kind of wears off. The fewer the better, and I found myself longing for Doom 1 & 2.

Arn´t those more like Civ? I rarely play those kinda huge strategy game, I´m more of a shooty-pew-pew-person, but every few months I get the urge to have a go at something like this. I tried Civ5 but that was much too complex for my tastes.

Yes and no. In Civ, you can down helicopters with knights in shining armor. Vicky 2/EU3 are more realism-oriented, more detailed and confined to a handful of centuries. Despite the fact that fighting takes place on the big world map, it's still fun and a lot of processes can be automated. Once you get over the steep (but short) learning curve bump, you should be able to enjoy it well enough if you've any appreciation for...taking over the world!Sisco wrote:

I just bought that game a few days ago. Love it but after GTA it took a bit for me to get used to the controls. Especially the targeting system.

The AI in this game boggles me sometimes. These two dudes duked it out for a good 10 minutes while the rest of their regiments faced each other on the ramp without firing a single shot.
In the end, my dude (the Prussian) lost, but the rest of the Polish regiment got annihilated by my troops.
