TLDR, but better than spreading it out piece-by-piece over the next page:

I've made it no secret that I am not a fan of 3d. Popcorn and licorice aren't going to interfere with your video receptors. I understand that some people enjoy 3d though. Personally, I'll take a higher quality image on the big screen over 3d any day. I'm interested in seeing the films shot in 4K. (inb4 you cant tell the difference) It's not just about resolution. Which means a better range and protection of color ..and it's been said that it looks better then it's 2k counterparts when it is down sampled.

1Sniping at who?
I do notice a great deal of color difference between 2D and 3D, and enjoy both. But bright colors is always a spectacle I can enjoy on blu-ray. If a film's in 3D at the theaters, I'll generally go for it in 3D.

1If you were asking me, I was referring to Ebert's untimely crack about Ryan Dunn as yet something else that was unnecessary.

The reason I was disappointed by the ending sequence was because like you said, the rest of the book 7 films were remarkably close to the source material, and I enjoyed them a lot more than most other entries. I just felt that the climax was a let down because they let hollywood spectacle overwrite what was supposed to happen, leaving things make little sense. It was the stuff from Neville's speech onwards (inclusive).

Edit: Oh numerical rating. I don't like giving things numerical ratings they seem pretty meaningless. I still enjoyed the film and put it in the 'good' section. Unlike, say, 4 because I think it was pretty rubbish.
Fair enough.

and i will never agree with the concept of you have to read the book first.  ive seen a lot of movies and never read the book and thought they were just fine.
If you don't like it, you don't like it. I can name a few light fantasy novels/films that don't suit my fancy as well. I'd only recommend taking up the books to fill in some of the holes if the movies left you curious. If not, pass.

In a lot of cases, reading the books beforehand can spoil your enjoyment of a film. I saw Willow and the old Dune before reading their books and ended up enjoying both book and film. Yet I read Starship Troopers before seeing the film, and ended up spending all my time mentally checking off all the blatant omissions (power armor and a bit more sophisticated of a bug species, primarily) rather than enjoying the cheesy bug-smashing fest for what it was.

harry potter is probably definitely absolutely one of those films where you'd sound like a retarded, pretentious fucking dumbwit to say "you must read the books before seeing the film!!!" as if they have sooo much more depth and insight to shed into the world of fucking teenage wizardry.
The movies are satisfactory enough to stand on their own. But if someone's left wondering about something, reading the books will supply them with a bunch of trivia about the series (some of which was central) that the films glossed over.

Most irritating are the Potter hounds that, usually with disorganized litanies of poor grammar, will swarm all over anyone who has something remotely bad to say about anything related to the franchise.

Check out the reviews on rottentomatoes. The approving reviews are mostly ignored, and the ones that gave it a splat have to deal with stuff like this:

What? Are you two on completely different pages, or am I missing something.

Agree on the rating though, that film sucked, Besson just doesn't have anymore.

I figured...I really want to see that too, reviews have been great and Allen has started doing some good stuff again (excluding You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger)

Thought you had misread it.
I was talking about the luc besson (sp?) written film with john travolta in it. Bought it for my dads birthday today as i'd heard it was good, pretty damn awful though.
Plot was a 0/10 but the action/fight scenes sorta made up for it. Plus there was a pulp fiction reference.

bumming around watching leon with a hangover is pretentious? leon is even a pretentious film? it's simple and has loads of jokes and absurdities.

sounds, as per usual, like you're just an inept social retard, dilbert. i'm sorry but i don't know how to take such retarded comments any other way.

this just in: watching films with friends is pretentious.

seeing as you've said you abhor parties and proper social events, what exactly do you do with your friends with you collect together if you don't do something quiet like watch a film? i pity your social life.

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights:
8/10 - I have not seen the Ryan Reynolds movie yet, but can't imagine it would be anywhere near as good as this. A collection of short stories that all feel complete and entertaining, and give me that nostalgic feeling of reading Green Lantern comics as a kid, when the Green Lanterns were actually bad ass.
