Well I finally broke down, I ordered a EVGA 7800 GS, today. Shipping overnight, so Ill hopefully try out this new card stock, then I'll try the beta driver, and report back tomorrow.

*sighs* thinking about all the $$ on, upgrades I have done just to play this game..... Don't ask...

I hope you got the evga 7800gs superclock 460 mem 1350 core either way it runs at 48 C in my case probably because I have 4 large fans inside of it + watercooling

this beta driver was developed primarily to capitalise on the release of Oblivion a while back... its not a new driver, in fact there is a further one ahead of this beta, .43 i think...

ive been using it since it was released, with no issues whatsoever.  it allowed me to push my overclock profile a tad higher on my 7800gt.. (currently about +10-15% above default - im sitting at 485 @ 1.15) bf2 cruises for me with max settings on everything, at around 80fps across all maps.

dont fear beta drivers.  if they dont work for u, revert to most recent alpha. no biggie.

and yes, most driver releases these days are released with increasing focus on the latest chipsets, so u may get SOME benefit on your 6600, but dont expect it to give u 20 extra fps dude....
how much ram and what cpu do you have? i have a 7800gt, 1.5 gig of ram and a intel p4 540. I only get 50-60 fps on most maps.

No I got the 430 / 1300 , not OCed obviously. Ill just bump it up a bit manually, after a few days to test stability, in game.

Hmm.  I need to try these out and see how my FPS are doing with two evga 7800gt cards.  Right now I'm at 90-110+.  Wonder if I'll see much improvement.......though even if I do, I'm doubting it will be highly noticeable.

I got the 7800 GS CO, disappointing, so far. Tried it on same settings as original ATI 9550 256mb, OC'ed to 398 mb, but was only getting 15-30 Fps. Bump any settings to high, and I get visual artifacts all over the place. The 3dMark05 scores more than doubled, but after testing , in game it shut down Windows. EVGA is sending a new card. They think its faulty vid card RAM. So, I'll report back with, hopefully, good news once I get my system stable with another 7800 GS. See you on the Battlefield, but you will probably see me first! lol.

yeah, I have 7800 gs co evga and There is a shitload of difference, remember to get forceware coolbits and set clock settings to their appropriate value, my = 460 * 1350

I don't have a clue how to do that stuff to my card but oh well!

here's the link to coolbits http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815
get it and install it, this will give you hidden features of your nvidia card, from there you can set the clock speeds
most of the drivers won't set your speed to what it should be especially if you have 7800 gs oc, you will default at the regular clock speed if you have 7800 gs oc superclock set them to what I have memory freq = 460

and remember nvidia is made for overclockers with ati I could only up it 2 mhz on core !!

I think that this is very poor advice to be doling out, and hopefully you all are smart enough to see that. Generally, both Nvidia and ATI are going to clock the cards as high as they can while still ensuring good stability.  Whenever you increase memory or core clockspeeds (especially if you have not taken steps to increase the units cooling capacity) you are going to be more prone to freezes or in-game artifacts.  Otherwise, why would they make the product shicrappier?  Especially with a high end graphics card?

And obviously...some cards will be OK, but others may not...my whole point here is that it's a gamble if you do it on the stock hardware and not cool to assume that all [insert hardware manufacturer name]'s products are going to be able to OC well, or at all.

Thanks anyways..

EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GS CO Superclock when used with nvidia provided driver clocks it to the speed of regular 7800 gs that's why if you don't use EVGA drivers you NEED to set the appropriate speeds which are on the damned BOX OF THE CARD or you will loose performance on which you spent the money
460 mhz / 1350 mhz . mmmmmk ?. Obviously my advice is not bullshit

Performance
    NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS
    460 MHz GPU
    16 Pixel Pipelines
    400 MHz RAMDAC

Memory
    256 MB, 256 bit DDR3
    1350 MHz (effective)
    43.2 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

Interface
    AGP 8X
    VGA, DVI-I, S-Video

Resolution & Refresh
    240 Hz Max Refresh Rate
    2048 x 1536 x 32bit x 85 Hz Max Analog
    1600 x 1200 Max Digital

Requirements
Minimum of a 350 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 18 Amp Amps.)
An available 4-pin Molex hard drive power dongle

I did not dispute that point.  Please re-read my previous post in this thread because you have obviously missed the point (increasing the clock speed to it's stated speed on OC cards would fall under OC'ing w/ improved cooling...that was and remains a valid point).

What do I have a problem with? This:

Look at XFX's Range of NVidia 7900 GT Cards, they are all the same (same cooling design, same layout, etc), the only difference is that they are clocked different.

Anybody tried these drivers on SLI 7800GT's?  I am curious so see how they work?

NVIDIA released new Forceware Beta Drivers V91.28 on the 23. May. I installed them and they work pretty well with my 7900 GT.

good luck
(btw u still can't tab out if u have SLi enabled)
tip: if your exe crashes like myn did, use a mini image and it's fixed
welcome to the SLi club

I am just curious what is a mini image?  I am new to this SLI thing.  When I try to tab out of battlefield I get the problem dicussed on this topic.  So how do I go about fixing this.  Thanks for the help in advance.

the only way to fix the tabbing bug is to run single gpu mode on the sli option...(which kinda defeats the object of having sli)
bf2 HATES tabbing out with SLi, so don't worry it aint just you
a mini image, is where you mount a "copy" of the important parts of the cd you put in the drive. the game thinks it's there, when it's just a file on your hard drive being 'mounted' as a cd, it's alot faster on starting the game, and apparently fixes the exe crashing bug i was experiencing.
but as far as tabbing out goes, if you have SLi enabled you can't, it either freezes the screen till u tab back in, or it will destroy half of what is rendered on screen
