Looking to build a $1000 PC

Well, BF3's coming out and I miss my old passion of PC gaming. I should have enough money left over after I buy my new car to buy a $1000 PC. Have been out of the hardware loop for a while so I'm not sure what the best options are anymore.

Already have the monitor. Need also a decent mouse+KB.

1000 eh? What would you be willing to skimp on? Case? I threw something to gether real quick for shifty in teh bf3 thread yesterday. IT came in just under 1000

I know there are some decent cases out there for like $75. Just not the Antec 900, please. Hated it.

I'd actually prefer a case that would last as I'm without a doubt going to upgrade the rig in the future.

Would be good if I could afford it. That's too much even though I'm willing to go a close to $100 for the case. I like Lucien's suggestion a lot, actually.
