So I went and looked at a couple laptops and this one seems pretty good, let me know if it is or not:

HP 4530s
Intel Core i3-2310M (dual core 2.1GHz)
Windows 7 Home Premium
4GB DDR3 RAM (1066MHz, 2x2GB)
500GB Hard Drive
15.6" screen
DVD+/-RW drive
Intel HD Graphics
3 USB Ports, 1 HDMI out
2mp webcam
1 year warranty

HP consumer lines are generally pretty shit. I'd check out the lenovo T, X, edge or ideapad lines

Well it's the business model, ProBook series, so it's not just an entry level consumer laptop. Also, the shop I deal with doesn't carry Lenovo (I've never even heard of them...) so they probably can't order them in. They deal with Asus, HP, Apple, etc.

Lenovo is IBM's brand, generally regarded as the highest quality you can get. And I didn't even bother googling it haha, then the HP should be alright. What kind of shitty store doesn't carry lenovo?

Well I don't know if they do or not, I just never heard of them.

Oh, and is there a big difference between 1066MHz RAM and 1333MHz? The print out at the store says its 1066, but the HP websites says its 1333. Maybe just a typo...

I've never had any problems with HP. OP's laptop is good for casual use, definitely not for gaming
hmm these specs mean nothing to me as you have no reason for having the laptop so i assume it's for word processing type stuff.. so yeah .. they look like some legit, real looking specs. go buy it.

It's for school, no gaming (I use Xbox now).

$699 but I may get it for cheaper. We get ripped off in Canada/our city, I can get it online for way less, but then I have no customer service if things go wrong.

I meant when i have problems id have to send it off instead of just taking it down to a local store in Calgary.
