There is nothing historical or scientific about Deadliest Catch and American Chopper. Those shows only exists because people like to watch drama, and there is no better drama than "real life" drama. (I put real life in quotes, because I am willing to bet that half the shows are scripted.)
Even mythbusters is shitty now, it used to be cool. Doing all sorts of urban myths, but then they let people send in their suggestions. Some where good, but most were awful as well.
