I use my smartphone pretty heavily and have a 500mb a month allowance that I have yet to go over. You would be surprised how little data mobile connections actually use (assuming you arent tethering obviously). I suppose I dont stream music to my phone or stream video constantly, but does anyone actually do that? Seems like a ridiculous waste of battery life to me when you can just put your own music straight on.RDMC wrote:

The actual 'features' of smartphones like mobile browsing, email, IM, anything that isnt constant media streaming etc is all extremely non data intensive.
Obviously unlimited is better, it is just not necessarily make or break (in my opinion).

I know Verizon mistakenly tweeted that the Samsung Galaxy S II would be 4g last week. But they quickly corrected.

Had a play around with my s2 today. Got it rooted and got all my shit set up. Amazing piece of kit, blisteringly fast and the screen is gorgeous. The browser is phenomenal (which was an important consideration for me), really responsive and is easily the best I've used.
Phone does come with an absolute of ton of crapware though, ended up buying Titanium Backup to freeze about 20 apps. Also while the build quality is good I'm not really use to the light weight and how thin the phone is; I think a case is absolutely necessary (I've got the SGP neo hybrid which is pretty good, though a bit loose laterally).
Overall very impressed.

It is indeed a very good phone for its price. It does feel a bit plasticky though.
So I've narrowed it down to an iPhone 4 or a Galaxy s2. I like the idea of the iPhone because I can use it as my ipod too (which badly needs to be replaced), but I like the idea of the more powerful Galaxy.
