Hello, first time on the forums.

Right, I've had this problem for quite a while now. It happened around the time my IP changed and before the game worked perfectly fine.

Irritatingly, after three to ten minutes of play, I'm disconnecting from the server after the lovely "There is a problem with your connection" message. The message lasts about five or ten seconds, and then after a while I'm returned to the server menu with a pop-up box saying "Your connection to the server has been lost", or something like that.

I've seen that many people have this sort of problem across the net. I still haven't found the cause to this, but it seems that this happens with other games I play also, however CS:Source just gives me a long lag every twenty seconds or so.

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give. If not, I'll keep fighting and fighting to see what the hell's gone wrong.

Thanks.

Have you got any firewalls up ? ( as BF2 doesn't like firewalls or any anti spysoftwere ) also whats your vid settings ? try setting them to low if you have it any higher then that.

if you still having troubles post up and we will see what we can do

Peace Boris

also try this ( it might help )

Change PB checks

Step 1: Ok, the first step is very simple, join any BF2 online server which is running punkbuster, preferably a ranked one.

Step 2: Once you are in, and respawned somewhere, press the ` key. This key is located on most keyboards above the tab key and to the left of the 1 key

Step 3: Once you have pressed this, a large white box should drop down with a load of text in it. Type "pb_sleep 500" (without the quotation marks) and hit the enter key

Step 4: Once you have done this, make sure the box is still up and type pb_writecfg to save your settings

Peace Boris

You didn't mention if you have wired or wireless connection. I had the exact same problem as you with my wireless connection and I fixed that by changing the CHANNEL. If you have wireless connection, try changing the channel to something else. Make sure the noise level is NOT too high cuz I assume that's making the problem. IF you have wired connection, check your cable, firewall.

Let us know if that help.

Thanks for your response guys, you all own

I'm indeed wireless. I've got my settings with everything on medium, something on high, and 1280x1024, 4xAA.

Yeah, I did the PB thing. Doesn't seem any different, though I sware I was playing for a bit longer when I changed it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have tried disabling my crappy nVidia firewall while playing No difference sadly. Thanks for the channel tip, I was thinking of trying that. I will now.

Thanks again guys!

Oh the connection sharing is ruled out entirely, even when my dad is out, when no one else at all is using it, it still happens, inevitably. I will change the channel on the router soon and hope that it works!

It's server related. Notice how many people all drop at the same time. Play on a different server. I used to get the problem all the time. I don't get it any more since I found a favorite server.

Try channel 5,6,7,8 cuz these seems to work most of the time. Mine is set to 7 which was 6 before. Also be sure to get NOISE level as low as possible. You have to change it from router NOT from your PC I think. Use the software that comes with your wireless card.
Let us know the result.

Good Luck

Thanks. It was 11 for me, changing it to 10 did nothing. I'll give 7 a go, I like that number.

Thanks for the help Mark

Sorry for the triple post :S But I've changed to many different channels and the problem doesn't seem to be solved... does any one have any other things I could try?

Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated.

Try using cable between u'r router and PC instead of going wireless

The router's all the way downstairs. Not much I can do there... and other people in the house need access too, so I don't think I can do that.

I have an AMD 64 3000+ 1.8ghz. I doubt it's to do with that, because it's run fine with it before. Though could it be? :S

Thanks for the feedback.

I really want this fixed and I'm still stuck.

I honestly doubt you can play BF2 wirless with new patch, Did you run BF2 in windows mode?

I have tried windowed mode. I think this is a network/router problem because when I connect to another router that's further away than the one I normally use it works fine. It seems no one knows what the cause of this is! I'm screwed aren't I? I'll play and gain points with constant disconnection for the rest of my life...
