I bought a replacement fan/cooler for my hd5870, installed it, put my pc back together again, and now it doesn't work.
It will turn on, but there won't be any video ouput. The fans/hdds start spinning, I can turn num lock and such on and off on my keyboard, but there is no video output at all and judging by the lack of sound/hdd activity it's not booting into windows.
I've completely taken my PC to pieces and reassembled it, tried removing individual sticks of ram, removed all unneeded hardware, put the video card in the other slot, nothing's made a difference.
cleared the cmos/re-seated the battery
my monitor is working fine
I tried using a dvi-to-vga converter on the gpu with a vga cable to my monitor, when I tried booting the screen would be white, flash black once a few seconds later, and then stay white.
All I did before it broke was to remove the gpu, take off its stock cooler, install the new cooler, and put it back in.
trying another gpu or putting it in another pc isnt an option at the moment
