Boats can be pretty useful on Songhua. Unless you drive them on the roads like any other vehicle because that mean you can also meet any other vehicle.

Driving them from a carrier in futile hope to make landfall is not in top ten of the funniest things to do.

no there death traps just like the transport chopers... but the firepower is a little better if your not moving so that you can aim.
indeed.  I only go in boats as a preferred method of death.

They do have a badge for the boats - it's called the transport badge. Time in a boat, jeep, Vodnik, etc all count towards the transport badge. I got my basic transport badge while sitting in a boat as commander on Songhua Stalemate!

But, that's a valid point. Perhaps there should be a badge exclusively for boats. But, it would be nice if they also had a "combat" class type boat with more firepower.

On sf there is something cool to do with boats : go navy seal and choose anti tank then take a boat in the hangar. drive it lets say to 100 feet from the carrier and go on one of the passenger seats in the middle of the boat (F3 to F6), not on the SAW. then take out your SRAW and use yourself and your boat as a TOW . Then you change your boat position easily by going to the driver seat again and when a few teamates are doing the same, it looks like coastal guards watching around the carrier . Try not to let teamates getting into your boat since some of them are dumb and will go to the driver seat and move the boat so you wont be able to shoot.

I own with boats son!!! *looks at stats...* No wait.. I don't, lol, I usually like them, but I never play on a server or a map that has them. I love the gunner seat, a mounted PKM.

I'd give anything for the US on Wake to have a couple of APC equivilent gun boats. Same guns and same armor would be genourous compared to the damned RHIBs.

as far as I'm concerned, the only good use for a RHIB in bf2 is sitting in one, as commander, and staying in the well deck of the uss essex.

Boats in Battlefield 2 are awful, but in Battlefield 1942, I /loved/ the PT boats on the Invasion of the Phillipines map.  I used to play on that one a /lot/, I loved tooling around in those little PT boats, hunting down the Japanese landing craft, harrassing the destroyer, etc.

They're useful in the fact the game features water, and it's faster than swimming. The downside is there's no evasive defence against planes, choppers etc. once you're away from land. If a pilot's got you lined in their sights it's just a waterlogged coffin.

I TK for boats.  I'm like "Get outta MY boat n00b bitch!  You're just gonna crash it into the sand like a tard.  You wish you could boat own like me."  And then everyone is like "Damn KingLou......why you gotta be such a boat whore!?  Let other people use the boat!  Even YOU were a boat n00b once."  And then I'm just like "Suck it!"  And then they're like "No YOU."  And I'm like "Pssssh....whatever."  And they're like......
