what a fest. Incredibly awesome visuals and I loved how the story leaned towards Alice in Wonderland. Very much recommend.
The Book of Eli
8/10
Spoiler (highlight to read):
I had to find out if M Night Shyamalan was involved in this, hehe. TBH I thought it was going to be total rubbish, but it ended up pretty well done.
Also, I'd bone Mila Kunis soooooooooooooo hard.
Also, Gary Oldman does bad guys fantastically.

I mean fuck, a music video, okey, but a movie? They really went to far with it and that cost it at least 1 or 2 points for me.
Yeah it was a bit 'in your face' type of placement.Kampframmer wrote:

Fight scenes (the only reason to even consider watching the film) were so meh, and it really didn't seem like there were many of them. Portman was the only saving grace in that movie, and they turned her in to a dreamy-eyed dork.

Watched Tron Legacy the second time. This time in English and it made it obvious how badly dubbed Olivia Wilde was in German, making her not slightly naive like an "Iso" is supposed to be, but plain silly.
Anyways, Jeff Bridges is still outplayed by his CGI-self, story is absolutely ridiculous, but visuals, art design and sound are incredible.
The potential was there for something truly great, but all in all it´s okay.

OK, but I thought the entire film was lacking in substance. Yeah we get it he has AIDS and everyone should feel sorry for him, bu the trial was poorly done and aside from the trial it was just meaningless scenes looking for sympathy. Decent acting, shoddy script.

The guard - 7/10
Hilarious.
Hilarious.
Hesher - 8/10
One of the most bizarre films I've ever seen, when I saw the cast didn't expect anything like this, I've honestly never seen anything like it. The acting was fantastic across the board, and Natalie Portman again shows complete randomness in the roles she chooses. Overall I really loved this, such an intimate film, compelling, yet bamboozling at the same time and the penultimate scene has got to be up there with my favorite movie scenes.
Plot, for those interested :
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Hesher is street living, rock n' roll loving, confused and erratic individual. He invites himself into the home of a dysfunctional family consisting of a young boy named TJ, TJ'S father and his wonderful grandmother, TJ's mother has recently been killed in a car crash and the entire family have become emotionally dead. Hesher has the strangest of interactions with each member of the family, and randomly turns up in scenes involving TJ. All this leads to a bizarre sequence of events that follows, which I really enjoyed watching.
This didn't have a big commercial release or anything, but with such a high quality cast yet modest budget, it produces something refreshingly original and simple. I'd recommend this to anybody who wants to see something a little different.

The Good Shepard -
meh. Lot´s of not talking, just staring. Which Damon isn´t very good at. Story never got exciting: "Trust no one, Intelligence work fucks with your life, you will have no friends". Thanks, Deus Ex taught me that 10 years ago.
Cinematography was good though, despite being weird and/or having misplaced effects at some points (two people standing in the street, what appears to be candle light flickering on their faces in close up, yet when you get a full frontal, there is no such light).

Yes, I'm watching these again. Yes, they're beyond rating. Will also cap it off with the Leslie Nielsen parody.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides...4/10
This was, in all honesty, rather stupid.
Please, let's bring an end to this franchise now, and stop diminishing the name of the first movie, which was in its own right wonderfully original.

Watched that today as well and I agree it was rather bad
Partly cause it's the 4th in a series that should've stopped at 1 or 2 and partly cause
Spoiler (highlight to read):
they threw in some random religious dude that falls in love with a mermaid.
