EDIT: wtf?! (Everything after the Euro symbol disappeared)

Anyhow:
Hi all!

I've been using the Antec Neo HE500 PSU since arond 2006 and it has served me well.
Now, I'll be doing an upgrade* in time for BF3 and I'm wondering if I will be able to keep it (and save a Euro or two) or if I'm jeopardizing my new components.

Specwise it's a solid PSU and the "recommended power supply" notifications are usually somewhat on the generous side.
(Most cards doesn't draw close to their claimed wattage unless OC'ing - Which I won't)

So what say ye:
A - "Quality PSU's can handle their specified load and them some & age is not a factor. You're in the clear"
B - "Might be tricky. You'd better get a 650W or bigger since you're starting over anyway"

*i5 2500k
GTX 570
8 GIG DDR3 RAM
Single HDD
Optical drive.

Thanks in advance!

NOTE Using the Euro symbol was apparently a bad thing. (didn't display any text after that character)

I would replace the PSU with a 600W-800W (never know when you might want to SLI).

I'm liking the 850W Corsair PSU I bought, but haven't had it long enough to vouch for the thing. The brand gets glowing reviews, though.

If you're a lights geek, give Rosewill (and Coolmax or Linchi case fans) a shot and make yourself a happy shiny rainbow computer. Otherwise, PC Power & Cooling, Antec and (mostly) Thermaltake have been nice to me.

Hmm, it's a fine line. It should be alright, but it wasn't a high-end PSU in it's day, it's fairly low wattage and it's getting on in age.

If it were me I would buy a new PSU (Corsair, Antec or Seasonic - whichever has the best deal at the time). I'm of the opinion that if I'm spending $1000+ on computer gear, a $100 PSU to make sure the whole thing doesn't explode is a worthwhile investment.

And while anyone's at it, make sure there is a UPS somewhere in the mix.

I'm in the same boat mate, I've got an Enermax 565w, think I'll retire it and buy a new one, I really don't want to spend £400 on new hardware and have it go poof
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.

The AX750 from Corsair is one beast of a PSU. I bought it as an upgrade.

meh, as long as you don't get any random crashing or are concerned about the efficiency I see no reason to upgrade. If you push beyond the PSUs capacity your PC won't blow up, it'll just not work.
