its retarded in any situation other than a chopper on fire .. maybe a pkm if its smoking real bad but youre doing nothing but puttin a target on your head..

i cant say how many times i didnt see some retard untill he decides to fire an assault rifle at my fully armored helo

its stealing kills but i cant blame em i do it myself on occasion
If there are multiple people shooting at a choppa, it may confuse the pilot as to which direction his main threat is and might give someone else enough time to blast him with AA or something. I'm all for shooting choppas, full health or not. Just try to not let them see you, but duh, shouldn't ebven have to say that.

I once took a full BlackHawk down on Mustuur with a pistol. I'm not sre what happend. It wasnt smoking but i was bored so i shot at it and must have scared the pilot or something because it strangly flew into the hotel and i got the kills.

Once me and my squad of 4 took ou a attack heli with snipers. If you aim at the pilot and gunner then they usually get a bit worried and do stupid tricks and either get shot or crash. The best thing to do is blast it with a SRAW head on or (suicidally) lob C4 on the drivers and gunners window. They then know they'll die and just as they get out blow it.

i shoot at helo's any chance i can, and i always try to identify them. something i've noticed not a lot of people do. if more people would just take a few seconds to locate enemies on the map and just dump a magazine or half a belt into the choppers it might make them take some evasive maunevers, return to base or go around again to line up an attack allowing someone to get the heck out of the way.

most people don't seem to grasp suppressing fire i guess. then when you're in a game and have no real consequenses of dying who cares about being suppressed lol.

I shoot at choppers all the time with assault rifles, even if they're not smoking. If nothing else, it annoys them, and if they come back around to kill me, they're wasting time that they could be using to kill more important targets. And when I see them circling back around I always hide so they rarely kill me when they come back for me.

And yes I've taken down several helicopters because I was the last person to shoot them. The best is when you shoot them a few times with an assault rifle that does a negligible amount of damage to them, but they panic and try some evasive maneuver that gets them killed and gives me the points.

as said before... go ahead making the heli aware of your presence.
especially if theres an anti tank right behind you trying to line up his shot so he will shurely miss the now dodging heli.
and dont forget to use your last bullets on the tank just arriving, best done if theres a spec op about to sprint away triggering the c4 so the tank cant miss him.

It is much more effective to use the mounted gun on a vehical.  Shoot for the engine block just below the roater, the cockpit or the tail.

btw usually the mounted guns take a attack chopper down just before they overheat.
I just say that because I often see people being killed by an attack heli trying to fire in bursts.
Just be brave aim sharp and never release the trigger.... trying to not overheat the gun kills you in any case.

They don't know exactly where I am, they just know that somebody was shooting at them. I never shoot at a chopper when it's looking at me. By the time they come back around, I'm gone.

And really, how often is there an AT guy behind you lining up a shot on that helo? I'll take my chances.

I was in a sniper squad and were playing at wake, suddenly a chopper comes and were all shooting at it and in the end it took about 3minutes with a group of 6 snipers to take it out lol

Then all your snipers probably used M24/L96A1.
With the M95 you get a chopper down very quickly if you constantly hit the cockpit.
