Well if you want to do the touristy thing, Edinburgh is a pretty good place to start. You can go see the castle then go to the dungeon, that's always a bit of fun. Some pretty nice places to have lunch and stuff, but really you can do and see everything there in a day, tops. You could go when the fringe is on (street festival with performers and shit, went a lot as a kid, great fun). You could also check out the Falkirk wheel, that's worth a trip to just see it, let alone go on it.
