I didn't say it was trash, just that it holds no appeal for me.

When I said electronic music I was talking about the modern dance hall stuff. I always liked industrial music like NIN, Ministry, Gravity Kills or older 80s synth pop like Depeche Mode.
for a start, dancehall is something entirely different to any electronic music.

also, that dance music you're talking about accounts for maybe 10% of all electronic music that's out there, stylistically and genre-wise.

though of course it is the main representative of 'electronic' sounds in the mainstream culture and pop charts... but that has never meant anything.

Anything that can trace it's roots back to 'techno' is only tolerable in small doses for me. I liked Tiesto a bit at one point but everything else has left me uninterested. I'm sure you would say the same thing about what I listen to though. Music is entirely a matter of personal taste.

not that I hate it, I just don't really care for it. i only hear it if someone else is playing it, basically.

Absolutely love NIN. Some of their stuff is very much electronica while other works are more industrial, which has a rock/metal influence.

Dancehall is that music I always hear at Jamaican parties. It's the Jamaican version of club music.

Sean Paul etc.
