@hai bai.

Then you must intend to sell if for so little that it is not worth cracking. If it is worthwhile and costs something then it will be cracked. The only ways it wouldn't be is if there is so little interest that no one will bother to crack it, or if you sell massive quantities for a very small amount.

were not talking about a simple algorithm that scrambles a word.  it considers 100s of different of factors.  it's impossible to brute force the exact same algorithm

even if it was possible, do you realize how many data sets it would take?  it would literally take years of using my servers.  you think i wouldn't realize that some tool is trying to brute force or DDoS my server?

pop just mines whatever the underground produces that can be reified and packaged. just look at britney spears producing dubstep songs with rusko. it has never been going anywhere original.

It wouldn't be pop if it was doing anything original. Pop is the cash cow, no experimentation there, let no names trial and error shit until it catches on, the repackage it with a familiar, (and pretty), face. It sucks, but you can't blame the execs for doing it since it makes them a fuck ton of cash.

I'm aware they are defined and separate areas, pop is turning to shit and nothing big is coming out of the indie/underground scene that record companies want to invest in. Where is the next REM, Elton John or AC/DC? They have ongoing appeal because there is so little else.

not really...  look at the guys who make and sell hacks for FPS.  EA, AA, fpscheats, 187ci, etc.  the programmers who make those cheats are at about the same level as me, and i know that because i know all of the developers who make them.  does their shit ever get cracked?  nope.  they're all reverse engineers and they know how to protect their programs

Sorry, thats about the simplest thing to reverse engineer, just takes one person to buy a license and they can figure out your algorithm.
Lets assume they do it with stolen credit card details - you don't even get paid once.

@uzi
wasn't the point, that was more of a side comment. If you want to take a comment about piracy from that, take this one:
If they produced more than just crap, I might be more inclined to buy it. However they flood the market with so much generic "made in china" crap, that it holds no value beyond a dozen or so plays. It holds so little value that nobody actually wants to pay for it. How many songs written this year do you think will be worth listening to a couple decades down the road. Even your "underground" culture is effected by this, everything has to be the latest and greatest, which leads to stuff that can't be listened to repeatedly.

well seeing as i'm still listening to 10 year old underground music today, i think your point makes... no sense. pop is ephemeral; real art (music, film, tv, anything...) isn't. i'll be watching the wire in a decade, too. just like i still watch any 20th century film.

So whats so special about your software and anti-piracy features that will mean it can't be cracked or reverse engineered - bearing in mind Enigma was cracked using valve technology and I have a $20,000 piece of software from one of the largest software development companies sitting on my PC right now.

Whats it going to do thats so great that people will want to pay for it? Predict online poker hands?

i already told you, it'll connect to my server.  but apparently that can be brute forced.  i wonder where all these brute forces are that can generate cd keys for online games

A piece of software which takes in data and spits out an answer based on a consistent algorithm can be reverse engineered, why is this so hard for you?

anything worthwhile to the masses.
unless you are selling to companies who are willing to pay.
If you are selling something useful to the home user, it will be, otherwise they don't care enough to do it, which means it is a product nobody wants.

Chances are "a million to one" that you have not come up with something ground breaking. If you have, congratulations, but I really doubt it.
