I do believe I'm not, considering the original argument was

Does BF3 work well on consoles (in comparison to PC)

it doesn't

Most people don't know how to clean a virus from their computer and you expect them to change out a video card? There's a reason that 90% of the market is for consoles. They are plug and play. Also, they're more fun since you can play with your friends without lugging around hundreds of pounds of gear. I'm not talking about sitting in your dimly lit basement chatting with your friends over ventrilo, I'm talking about actual social interaction. PC gaming is for basement dwellers Finray.

Hurri a vinyl collection gets expensive. I only have like 200 records and that's a lot to me. Its fun record shopping though, especially flipping through the new batches at your local record store. Typing that makes me miss it
yeeep. i've got most of my favourite electronic 12" LP's now, some of them 2x12 cause of the length... and they're normally £20 each. which is about 2x the average price of the cd. factor in their much shorter shelf-life and bigger size/weight/fragility, and that's a serious investment. the bigger thing for me, though, is the dance ep's and 'big' singles that i wanna buy on vinyl-- feels better to mix in a big track on wax than from some infinitely-long list of downloaded mp3's. dance 12"'s can cost £10 and only have an A1/B1. you're lucky to get 4 songs on most of them. £10 for 4 songs is incredibly expensive. and again... mixing on vinyl, constantly cutting in on the beat, cycling thru tracks, rewinding... those records will not last long in comparison to a CD (maybe 100 plays on a scratch set-up turntable, more on a well calibrated 'audiophile' deck but still short compared to cd/digital media).

it's very expensive. like a book collection it's something you do for senseless personal reasons, cause you can't ordinarily sell 99% of your collection second-hand for any money. like books, only the rare/out of print-press records will get you any cash back. and you'd better keep them in as near to mint condition as you can, even then!

except the part where consoles have problems too. like not reading the disc. freezing. other problems devs decide to fix with a patch instead of before release nowadays.

bought pc months ago and havent worried about anything. even the build was worry free

pc stuff not working seems to come down to luck. just like xbox rrod. i never had a problem with my xbox, except the time i tipped it over while playing a game and ruined the disc xD
havent had a major problem with a pc in years. laptop is a different story as its cheap.

Console - worry about the plug, cables, controller, tv and actual console.

PC - worry about everything

Yeah, no comparison
console - stops working - find receipt, ship to m$/sony, wait 3 weeks, get a new one
PC - stops working - replace broken part - game on

not rocket science.
i can say from firsthand experience of my dad getting into pc gaming for a 2 year stint (when cod4 was released) that this is decisively NOT how it happens. that 1 week microsoft RMA process for a console-gamer is WAY better for the casual gamer than the pc-repair option. to most people what happens inside a pc case is still the dark arts. my dad's gaming pc's psu died (from what i could guess) - has he replaced the psu? hell no he hasn't. he took it to pc world to "replace the broken part" (taking a desktop pc to a retail-park centre is more hassle than most console gamers will ever have to go through in and of itself...), got charged an arm and a leg for their 'services' ("herp derp we are it experts, that'll be £100 for a windows reformat please, sir") and hasn't used it since. a £1000+ gaming rig dead - won't turn on - cause the power supply has fried. if you think your average gamer/pc user has any idea how to replace a pc part, let alone any inclination or curiosity to know-how, then you're absolutely delusional. you need some perspective.

bearing in mind finray that you're a kid that has sat on facebook posting shitty statuses every 5 minutes for the last 3 days because you don't have a gaming pc. like, literally. without exaggeration. a gaming pc to you seems to either be your closest worldly companion or otherwise your electronic life-support device. i don't think you really have the sense of objective perspective to be making any statements. you are way way way at the extreme end of the pc geek spectrum. it's like your life has no meaning, or as if you have nothing to do, when you don't have a gaming pc. and i'm not even exaggerating there - just going off the frequency and content of your fucking endless facebook spam. quite sad, really. and not helping pc gaming stereotypes at all. nor helping your argument vs. consoles.

I built two pcs last year with pretty much no problem (missed connecting the power to the video card on one, took me a bit to realize). No problems either. Both were pretty much the same,  ~$1500 or so. There's pros and cons to both. But to simply write off one for the other is estupid, simple as. Especially for people with limited budgets, a console is a better value purchase.

okay, here is a sample of your own profile (not counting discussion on other people's profiles, which i am not gonna waste my time stalking to prove a point)

on the 30th december:

Computerless till the 4th! Fml. Well, upgraded an i3 setup with 8GB RAM for effectively £70, n2b.
Just laughed my ass off. Listening to music on my phone (which I haven't updated in months) plugged into my speakers cause my computer is in bits at the moment. It's on random. I'm rocking out to some Opeth (which for those of you who don't know is pretty heavy screamish stuff) then what comes on? Fucking Nyan cat theme tune.
I tried playing MW3 and BF3 but I was close to slitting my throat. Currently rocking Freya's laptop plugged into my monitor. Plugged my speakers, keyboard and mouse into it also. What a slut of a laptop, every hole is filled.
Also I was surfing Reddit last night, then all of a sudden it was 3AM and I was on post 1,300. I need some gaemz.
So I was trying to check what was on an old IDE hard drive I had lying around. I plugged it into the computer, turned it on, not detected in the BIOS POST messages, I figured I'd just import the foreign drive through disk management inside Windows. So I get there, and it's not detected. I think "Damn, IDE must be disabled in the BIOS or something." so I'm flicking through the BIOS for a good 10 minutes, with no luck. So I boot into Windows again and do a thorough Google to try and find an answer. I find nothing. I give up, and shut the computer down to remove the drive. I pull out the power cable, and pick up the drive. The IDE cable follows. I hadn't plugged it in right.
Checking old hard-drive content, couldn't make it work, struggled for a while, wasn't plugged in.
Kik: Finray. /bandwagon.
I do hope my computer parts come tomorrow.
It was actually lagging. I'm trying Quake Live.
Nope. 20 FPS is not enough to play Quake.
the other half of your statuses (and there are a fuckload of them, about 25 updates in 4 days) are to do with inane shite, normally you complaining about how bored you are, or making trite smalltalk, which is directly related and a consequence of... surprise surprise... YOU NOT HAVING A GAMING PC.

i'd say from that sample that you are demonstrably in the 0.00001% percentile of hardcore pc enthusiasts. nobody talks about this shit in their ordinary day-to-day social life on facebook like you do. most of your facebook friends aren't even gamers, so it's hardly as if you're posting this stuff for discussion, or to an audience that cares. the overwhelming impression people get is that a) you are obsessed with computers, or otherwise they command a disproportionate influence/importance in your life and b) your life grinds to a halt with tedium, boredom and nothing to do when you don't have a computer.

either way i'd say you don't "have this shit on lock"... and i'd say you definitely aren't in any position to be expressing the views of the 'casual gamer'.

10 minute post limit is a wonderful thing.
