I've been going through the motions of joining up for about a year. Marine Engineer on a Submarine, the job I'm going for, has a waiting list of about 18 months.

I highly doubt the Army has changed very much so long as you don't mind getting shot at. If you want to do a job that requires any sort of intelligence or has a severe lack of danger, then you wait until it's your turn. Guy at my old job got a DUI and his Army recruiter got him out of it. Dumbass mofo, too... sure as shit wouldn't want to have him watching my ass.
