Seems like everythings getting easier and easier to get all the time. I sence that EA is trying to end BF2 so that we'll buy next version. But guess what, I won't! Not interested of any Halo. BF2 barely fulfills my criteria of fun game, I'm mostly into WW2 games but BF2 is so damn good I just have to play it..

- 1.3 award criterias (from EA forums)
WW2 games are ok. I really dont like em. I like modern games. Halo games! hells ya! I might look into the next version. Im not going to go out and buy it. My clan and I are still into BF2
well with battleield 2142 coming alot of people wait till they finish a game before starting another. so if people have all the awards for this one they will move on to a new game.
Doesn't it seem strange that there were award adjustments a couple of weeks ago, and now a new list appears and says its to do with the 1.3 patch? Award adjustments don't have anything to do with the patch, they are to do with EA's stats servers. These changes could be in the pipeline, but I don't understand whay people keep on assumign they are coming with the 1.3 patch when they aren't linked in any way.
+1 for you my friend.c0rce wrote:

IAR Requirements can only changed serverside, so a patch is needed - enough said.
agreed, man!! Don't buy BF star wars!!111 Do not!!MrBrain wrote:

>>>BF3 Central<<<
If EA really kills BF2 with lowering all the requirements where we all have been working for....i won't buy BF2142. I wasn''t planning on buying it anywayz. I hate that sciencefiction bull! Then for certain i will buy COD3 or FEAR instead. Stay away from our awards, ea-sales department! Earn your money with the yearly (never!) new sports-series! Those people like getting robbed! hehehehe
whomever is saying these requirements are being lowered for people to go buy 2142 are all just bitter idiots. On top of the fact they're bitter idiots who hate the fact the bf2142 mod is coming out for regular bf2. Thats all I have to say about that.
The requirements are being lowered because realistically not everyone is an expert, and people will stop playing this game because of some of its unrealistic requirements, on top of the fact you need almost a 2000 dollar computer to be on top of your game.

Sorry for the long post
i think it would be a good change, especially concerning the time requirements (500h for combat infantry medal... far too high)...
on the other hand, i would be quite pissed if i got the badges / medals affected by this the "hard" way. getting even 7 knife kills iar was very hard for me and took a lot of time, and that was just for veteran knife combat, expert combat seemed to be impossible...
but with these changes, nearly everybody can get it

lets see how many medals / badges i will get tomorrow rofl :p
I think the poster is laughing away at all of us right now. Wheres the proof? There's just too many questions raised by changing the reward system.
I think at most, you'll see some of the time requirements come down on the vehicles. I think the other items have already been reviewed and are going to stay where they are.
On a personal note, I don't want awards to be easier. I'd like to see lots of new awards (Shock paddle expert anyone?) and no time requirements for vehicles.

Oh shit dood people will be popping up with metals and ribbons and all. Just like they did with the Navy Cross, Golden Scimitar, and Peoples Medallion.
Is it actually confirmed that the patch is being released tomorrow or is this just a guess? I haven't seem anything from EA to suggest that the patch is being released tomorrow nor have I seen anything to suggest that the badge requirements are being lowered like is being said.
Wish I was laughing but I only posted up what I found on the BF2 EA UK forums. Moreover, I did state that I had no-way of checking on the reliability of these changes although the reaction on the EA forums suggests a certain degree of trustworthiness.Adogg wrote:

Anyway, if the rumours about tomorrow's patch are true we shall be able to find out shortly
I agree with you. On a side note, I finally got my expert knife and the thought of them reducing the requirements does not upset me at all. I know how I got mine, I don't really care how others get theirs.pX|SithLord wrote:

Edit: If someone really does care, just check when they recieved the award. If it was before the patch was released, then you know they got the old requirements...

And the UK forms came from totalbfs.com .... and that guy says he is not sure if it's real ....

Big question .... why do they need a patch to change the awards? They didn't for the Navy cross ... It's false data intended to mislead ... follow the trail backwards and you'll see.

In the patch 1.3 change list it specifically says they're adjusting awards.
However, it's not only server side. Do you think the server plays the drumrolls for YOU? No, the sound files in the "Objects_Client" file is what executes the sound. Other files on YOUR machine show the image of the award popping out, and the little yellow text that goes with it. There is a file in YOUR BF2 directory that has the requirements for all of the awards, this way it knows when to give you the whole presentation.
Notice how NONE of the service medals or ribbons are awarded in game? They just appear in your stats. This is why they are able to change the service medals simply through the server. However, for all the other awards/ranks, it must be given to the client as well or else, like the service medals, it would just appear in your stats; no sounds, no images, and I mean . . . who wants awards without the drumrolls!

OOOH OOOH!!! AF Manual: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=25387
Actually, my understanding was that they mention changes to prevent OUTSIDE awards or something like that.jnick wrote:

I do like your idea about adding the new delivery system for the awards in game for ALL medals. I think that would require a client side update but to simply change the requirements, would not require a patch or any changing on our side. Hence how they lowered the time requirements on the Navy cross, etc ...jnick wrote:

IF its all true i got a few medals coming my way
Once again you didn't READ what I wrote. It DOES require a client side change.Adogg wrote:

All of the awards they changed via server side, they don't show up in-game . . . they're just in your stats.
Every other award requires a client side change as every awards except service awards show up in game. In order for you to know you got the award in game, it has to be changed via client side. When you get an award, 4 things happen.
1. Drumrolls play
2. The award is shown to the left of the mini-map
3. There is text telling you what award you earned
4. The award shows in your stats.
Numbers 1 through 3 ALL happen on the clients machine. The server has no record of parts 1 through 3 ever happening. All the server does is report you met the requirements to the stats server. Therefore, if the requirements are changed ONLY on the server's side, we WOULD NOT see numbers 1-3 happen unless we met the OLD requirements.
For instance, if they do in fact change the expert knife badge by taking out the IAR requirements, this is what would happen.
A player logs on with 99 global knife kills. He makes one more in the game. The new requirements state that he should get teh award, however on his computer - no drumrolls played, or anything else within parts 1-3.
He logs out of the game, checks his stats, and to his surprise, the expert knife badge is there!
Here's what happened. He MET the new requirements which the server was updated with, therefore it gave him his award. However, the client (his computer) still thinks he needs 18 kills IAR to get the award, as it's scripted in a python file.
This is why both Server AND Client need to be updated for awards. Any award that you get in game, meaning steps 1-3 happen, the client needs to be updated as the whole in-game award presentation is executed via files on the CLIENTS machine.
Makes since.
2 hours 20 mins. till we know fo sho!
