Why the hell does it say, White/Black, not of hispanic origin?
To indicate if you are "White" or "Black" respectively, but not of Hispanic origin. Hispanics are known as "Racialmorphs". It all boils down to getting gov't money.

Yeah it's a bit confusing. I think I'm part-white of hispanic origin. My father's canadian and my mother's chilean, and I was born in argentina. My paternal grandma is dominican, and my maternal grandparents are chilean.
And yes, govt money / milking affirmative action for all it's worth on college apps. God bless being hispanic + first generation college-goer.

They want to make sure you are not Hispanic, because you get two votes if you are.

The definition of Hispanic is fuzzy. Most of us think of it as the general Spanish/Native American mix you find throughout Central and South America, but recently it's been thought of as just being from one of those countries. This has obfuscated things somewhat, because there are people in those countries who ethnically are African or European. For example, Dominicans are black, but speak Spanish and are classified as Hispanic. If you live in the US, you probably know at least one Hispanic person who is either completely or almost completely of European descent.
I don't make or necessarily endorse the rules, I just bring enlightenment to the masses.

If I'm not mistaken, for example, people from Spain are considered white and hispanic.
The U.S definitions of race confuses me abit.
Here's the general rundown:

Here's the general rundown:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_e … ensus#Race
The following definitions apply to the 2000 census only.[9]
* "White. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as "White" or report entries such as Irish, German, Italian, Lebanese, Near Easterner, Arab, or Polish."[9]
See also: White people and White American
* "Black or African American. A person having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as "Black, African Am., or Negro," or provide written entries such as African American, Afro American, Kenyan, Nigerian, or Haitian."[9]
* "American Indian and Alaska Native. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America) and who maintain tribal affiliation or community attachment."[9]
* "Asian. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. It includes "Asian Indian," "Chinese," "Filipino," "Korean," "Japanese," "Vietnamese," and "Other Asian.""[9]
* "Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands. It includes people who indicate their race as "Native Hawaiian," "Guamanian or Chamorro," "Samoan," and "Other Pacific Islander."[9]
See also: Pacific Islander
* "Some other race. Includes all other responses not included in the "White", "Black or African American", "American Indian and Alaska Native", "Asian" and "Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander" race categories described above. Respondents providing write-in entries such as multiracial, mixed, interracial, Wesort, or a Hispanic/Latino group (for example, Mexican, Puerto Rican, or Cuban) in the "Some other race" category are included here."[9]
* "Two or more races. People may have chosen to provide two or more races either by checking two or more race response check boxes, by providing multiple write-in responses, or by some combination of check boxes and write-in responses."[9]

had to be done!
Because if you are even 1/16 hispanic you are just as dirty as the rest of them.

Why bother with the whole ZOMGWATRACEAREULELZ? Does it really matter?
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
The fuck? If I were in that situation, I would use "Other". White seems to usually imply more European-ness.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Many third and fourth generation Hispanics consider themselves to be white and mark so on official forms, but the government must want to keep the two groups separate for statistical purposes
Nah they have to keep track of the Hispanics so when the fascists are elected concentration camps can go up.S.Lythberg wrote:
