Background checks are super ineffective. Most convictions stay local so you'd basically have to list every county you've ever lived in (or potentially committed a crime) to get caught. It's why they keep pushing for national registries

I got a ticket in bumfuck northern Texas once and when I called the Texas DPS to clear my record they couldn't even tell me which county suspended my license

its easier and cheaper to disqualify someone outright then to go through the motions

my buddy got arrested for assault in 02 when he beat the shit out of a butterbar who was mouthing off in a 6th street bar and 6 years later the texas courts dont have a record.  he never did time other than the night it happened or paid a fine or anything.

at least doing this job i feel like ive become an expert in buying a car.  dont trust the dealership, they are willing to fuck the customer and the finance company over for their tiny little commission.  the dealerships arent the ones with the money.  its the finance companies that care wether or not you pay your bills cus its them taking the loss and sending collections.  the dealership will put anyone behind the wheel if they think they could get away with it. ive got dealers sending me fax's and emails telling me im a fucking retard for not verifying a contract because they happened to forget to mention that it was a trade in instead of cash down.  trade ins cost way less than the actual cash value so that is considered when the finance company charges the dealership for the finanacing. some shady dealers even pass the cost of financing the customer when they arent supposed to.  for example, dealer bob wants to sell an expedition for 30K,  its gonna cost his dealership 3K to finance it so its really costing the customer 27K, but, some assholes try and pass the cost of their financing to the customer, turning that 30K car into a 33K.

Got some marketing post cards with Chinese on them, blabbing about Chinese New Year. Boss tells me to send them out to customers with Asian last names.
"So, you want me to send these Chinese cards to Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean customers, too?"
"Yes."
"But the card has some Chinese on it and is all about Chinese New Year."
"Yeah, but they all celebrate it anyway, just for fun."
"I don't celebrate Hanukkah."
"Yeah, but they'll get the idea."
"So, just to be sure, you want me to send these to people who aren't Chinese."

im starting at the better one on 6th but it requires a test I havent studied for and its 100 mile commute daily in LA freeway traffic.  but its long term not like the one im at now which is until march.
