do u guys think the g3 is really worth it?
i swear by the G3 as the best assault rifle, but one you have to be very patient with. as with all weapon preferences, it depends on your playing style. and no, i don't mean what you can glean just by looking at your stats, I mean what you actaully enjoy and want to do in-game, as opposed to what you find you're better at (the two are not always the same).
having said all that - the G3 and PKM both adhere to the same principle - firing single shots is devestating and will get you many, many kills, but if you fire in bursts then you'll miss just about anything unless its 3 feet in front of you.
there are other threads you might check out for comparisons between the rifles... for example, check out some of the comments in AK47 and AK101 in 'BF2 chatter'
also, in this thread there is a link to a funny vid about just how devastating the PKM is since the last patch, which illustrates my point about single shots against full atuomatic firing...

I guess it is a matter of opinions.
AK-101: Headshot = kill
m16 : burst (headshot+anywhere else) = kill
also, the ammo of the g3.. what is it, 80 bullets? 100? That's far too little for me. With the m16 you carry a total of 180 bullets, the 101 gets about 150. Reloading is a pain for me too, I can shoot down 3-4 enemies with the g3 and boom, got to reload. with either of the non-unlocks on single shot I can mow down lots of people before needing to go on a ammo hunt

I unlocked the MG36 out of pure principle. I was willing to rack up a couple more deaths per rounds to prove to myself the MG was still as good as the 1.12 days. After two rounds (the end of one round and the beginning of another: about 5-10 min total) of not even getting a kill assist after laying a few rounds into an enemy, I switched the the PKM and bam. 1-3 shot kills.
