Lost Connection

I get a lot of "your connection to the server has been lost".

I have no clue why, it is very random too. It can happen after being in a server for 5 minutes or not until I've played for an hour. It happens quite often. No clue what it is, though a friend of mine mentioned the ports that are listed in the manuel and that maybe I don't have all of them opened or something.

I'm completely clueless. Anyone else get disconnected a lot?

BTW it doesn't happen in any other game I play.

I feel your pain...!! Not sure which servers you're playing, but I've noticed that happening a bit lately when I play as well (on some Internode Australian servers) - then when I try to re-connect to a server, I keep getting punted back off with a message saying "Connection lost" or something like that...I basically have to log out of BF2, then start up again and re-connect...very annoying. Unsure of what causes it though...would appreciate to hear any ideas...

Call your internet provider and have them check your log, they can see if your connection have been troubled and/or if your modem is getting "cramps"

When you say "kicks you" Kicks you where exactly desktop? BF2 menu? Can you be more specific?

I have, and have never had problems with connection lost.. (except on server-crash/restart )

It (CPU) even works without the heatspreader

These "connection problems" seem to be quite common for a day or two with a (every) new patch.
Be patient, after all the downloading and server-patching will be done, things should be as usual/normal again.

Do you have the AMD X2 Patch off their site? I used to have these problems until I patched with AMD's patch it is a known problem with the dual chips.

Happens to me all the time now. I've been trying to enter servers pretty much all day but i get disconncted before I can enter and get the message "Your connection to the server has been lost". Please tell me what to do with this. After the patch I can't play BF2 anymore and not even enter a server.

I have 512 MB RAM
ATI Radeon XXL 128MB

PC fills all the BF2 requirements. I have graphics on low and audio on low and still no help.

It's because you have a dual-core CPU, and BF2 doesn't like it. You have to set the affinity to run on a single core, rather than trying to run on both.

The only firewall is the windows one, no anti popups and nothing else running, yeah Im on wireless,.

That driver update seems to be working fine now. Only one disconnect but that was from my net hiccuping, no random disconnect.

I fixed my problem
I opened the BF2 uninstall file and clicked modify (not remove).
Then the setup worked for a minute and now I have 0 problems playing online
Never thought it would be this easy.

It's the goddamn 1.3 patch. I have a singlecore CPU without any fancy wireless stuff or anything and I still lose the connection all the time since installing it... and even worse, it fucks up my whole internet connection, so I can't even surf for a time of 15-30mins after it happens... and don't tell me to get anti virus/spyware software, I have both and everything is ok except for the 1.3 virus.
