^^ nice post, one thing it will do is remove the number of rounds that end up an absolute white wash, when  someone bails and squad spawns say the tv station on sharqi and boom the game is basically over.

Clan matches will be much more interesting and strats will be much more interesting.  Most play is now based on squad switching and bailers already, not for long.

Code7 fails at life for releasing a press release.
For real man.  Why would they think anyone gave a shit enough to the point where they need a "press release."
What is next, a news conference and a ceremony?
Clans release press releases because the press wants to know (and the community wants to know). thats all. every top clan got a marketing manager, send players and functionaries out to give interviews, so why shouldnt they release news for the press? In germany we got many media, also TV, who is specialized on esports and do you know how I could know about the issue? yes, from the media.

seems most members here play for their own, alone, on public servers only using voice comm from time to time (thinking they are good because of a high score on public - did u ever see a top player on a ranked?). no offense, but these obviously have never heard of the WCG, CPL, ESWC (and the world tournament) and have no idea about competitive gaming at all. so they laugh about code7's press release. and thats the reason why you cant say "I play bf2, cs whatsoever" in the same way like "I play football, tennis, golf". in china esports is an officially recognized form of sport through the china olympic committee. stop being that ignorant plz, in 10 years you will understand ...

the squad changed DESTROY teamwork, and ea is blind to it, if i switch so i can spawn back and HELP me TEAMMATE, isent that a good thing?

i will not mind this change if the spawntime becomes 10 seconds, but if you choose not to spawn a medic has a total of 35 seconds to revive you.... that should make up for the lost squadleader "exploit"
ok to this code7

why dont you just run your server with the current patch instead? id ont understand.

or if it is a LAN game, run older versions?

problem solved

have a 1.3 server aswell if u guys do public

i really dont know so i really cant say, seems like a good idea to me lol

and one last comment. i think the recent media coverage and upcoming "competive players" attitude is pretty neat, and is brining postive attention to Online gaming.

but when the hell did a bunch of Jock's. and im talking a large amount start playing BF2?? you mentioned you play football, gold and tennis. I know athelete's and they do not ever just sit around on their ass.

and in 10 years. when you point your carpal tunnel ass fingure at some hot ass bitch. she is gonna just laugh at you. Sorry but pc gaming isnt gonna catch that quickly(well at least in america)

and i find it hard to beilive china has added competive pc gaming to be regonzied as an olmpyic sport. There is n othing  physical about it. I get more of a work out beatin off

chics dont like guys who play video games, ok. well maybe like 2%

gonna take at least 50 years for that to change

Stop the whining - Is not going to be any easier or harder as Everyone has to cope with the same changes.

Adjust + Adapt !!    Then when you die - walk 2 miles to get back into the action.  Simple.

I can understand how they have trained and trained to get to the level they are at.

But if they think the game should be geared to solely consider the pro-clans they're insane. If they stop playing, then a new clan who trains on the new rules will win.

Like I want things to stay the way they are so they can continue to enjoy being number one. Whiney bitches.

It's non-pro-clanners like us (I speak for the majority here) that run this game, and most of us aren't going to stop playing just because the new patch makes for different gameplay.

You need to take a look at players like Fatal1ty, whose pro gaming brings in excess of $200K USD a year (not all cash). He's actually pretty fit - runs, plays tennis etc. Pro gaming is actually bigger then a lot of people think and is getting bigger..

Actually any publisher wants to sell its products, that's the main goal. Supporting the community only shall let the community (consumers, who buy the game) grow. Do you think the stand-alone-gamer has any big influence for others to buy the game, even if he runs the game? That's what you think and obviously that's what EA thinks. But imho you are wrong for the most part, because this is BF2 and not WoW. Through media and public actions of well known gamers potencial buyers will pay attention to the game. That's what I said in a post above. Imagine a game without or a small clan / professional scene. I hope you know what I mean.

wow everyone has something to say and thats fair enough, although how many of you have played bf2 5vs5 or 8vs8? Its a totally different game and the clan games can end real fast. Also bear in mind that on maps like Mashtuur some of the flags only have two places were you can spawn. Its so easy to lock a flag down when you know the dead can only spawn from two places. Now with the patch your one and only player that's left is of no help. You cant spawn at your point and he cant be made into a squad leader so its gg before its even started.

Anyways this is nothing new to me, dod:s killed its clan scene....cs:s well lets just say all the comps still use 1.6 and bf2 is still a baby when it comes to comp play and they are allready killing the scene.

Honestly so many of you have nothing good to say about code7 and the changes yet you honestly know nothing about playing bf2 in the enviroment that they do, and fair enough you dont have to and it does not make them better than you, just try and understand the motivation.

Quoted for truth, infact im shocked at how little you ppl know about comp games or esports as the Euros like to call it.Its getting bigger every year ppl, infact we send teams over to WCG CPL and ESWC and when i mean we i mean goddam living at the bottom of the continent using 512 adsl that has 3 gig cap SOUTH AFRICANS. Are you all ignorant or what ?.

If i said "Fatal1ty" would you even know what im talking about ?. Games are big ppl Grand theft auto vice city made more money than Titanic's worlwide release including dvd sales.Add the extras like new gfx card sales when top games like hl2 or bf2 came out and your talking billions of dollars worldwide. Get upto speed or get left out.

The petition was asking to make the squad hopping "fix" a server setting, not to cancel the proposed changes. Well, we'll see in a few hours how much EA/DICE listens to a big part of community...

Guess it makes no sense trying to explain how the proposed changes will disrupt the clan play - if you didn't try it you don't know what is it about. So just a few thoughts on pub play:

- much more spawnkilling and spawnblocking, because more people will be forced to spawn at flags
- Dalian Plant and Wake Island maps will be a slaughter for USMC, Gulf of Oman also if MEC manages to push USMC back to carrier (what's the possibility that a SL arrives alive to the land and that his members already died once or are willing to suicide so that they can spawn on him)
- with a little effort MEC can stop USMC at Karkand's Hotel flag and city entrance on Sharqi
- time spent traveling instead of fighting
- increase in TKs, 'insert-vehicle-name-here-whoring' etc etc

I may be wrong though... Not that I care much anymore for pub play, but I hope I'm wrong for your own good.

Or maybe it will promote a little defense eh?  However, since they didn't increase the ticket size, which would make rounds last longer, I think this was a bad idea.

Yeah but if more than 10,000 people signed a petition to stop the changes, wheres the listening in that? They could of least made the patch optional or able to be set by the servers.
The patch has been optional I have been running my server on 1.22 after running 1.3 for two days.  The server crashed atleast 7 or 8 times a day and it was all due to the patch.  1.22 running now and its ranked the new badge requirements are in effect.  No worries about the server crashing no humvees being dropped on your head.  Life is great.  hehe.  Your all welcome to join us @ 72.232.187.76 or visit WWW.SFSGAMING.COM.  Repatching to version 1.22  does require a complete reinstall of the game though a small price to pay for no server crashes and playing the game the way you want to.

p.s.  a funny little bit of information if you do repatch to 1.22 you will be very surprised to see more than 3/4 of the available servers on 1.22 are EA official game servers.  Seems they were tired of getting complaints about crashing due to patch instability.

I agree that any publisher wants to sell its products but just look at probably the biggest gaming product on the PC - the Sims.  I've never played it and I don't intend to but it's been going for years with add-ons and expansions and all because the community keeps buying it.  I seriously doubt there's a professional scene in that game, I haven't been to WCG or any of the big gaming tournaments but I doubt Four Kings or SKGaming would touch it with a bargepole.  How much media attention does it have?  None that I know of.

So, tell me again that you can't have a very popular game with a continuing fanbase without a small clan / professional scene.  Tell me again that it's the WCG that sells games.  Tell me again that Code7 matters more than the hundreds of thousands of joe public's around the globe that play when the mood takes them.
