So there's a beer thread and I figure that there ought to be a wine thread for us sophisticated types.

I'm a fan of white zinfandel personally, very complex notes and rather pétillant. Fave brands include Barefoot and Franzia (wine in a box! brilliant!).

i had some white wine at christmas it was nice but i was already drunk

then on holiday last year there were some rocks about 50 metres out into the ocean and i thought it would be a good idea to drink wine on them so we got some red wine. then we swam but mine got lots of seawater in it so i had some of my mates that didnt and it was still really bad like the last 3 red wines i had.

I haven't found a fave red...I have had some lovely ones, but for some reason I never remember to note the name.

The wine I consume the most is the Left Foot Charley Pinot Grigio 2009. Delightful.
oh...it's from a vineyard in Northern Michigan. Some surprisingly quality wines in that area.

Oh, thread modded. Guess I better stay on topic.

I tried some cab savs from the Napa Valley region when I was in the US. Their flavour was not as big and bold as Aus/NZ cab savs, they were a bit more like a pinot noir.

My red of choice is usually a Tasmanian or NZ pinot noir. Also am partial to merlot and cab sav. Most reds really except for shiraz, which I prefer with a meal. Don't often drink white but when I do it'll usually be sav blanc.
