A co-worker is currently going to school and being paid by the military for it... She left almost 8 years ago after working 8 years. She goes 1 night a week and makes an extra $2K/month profit for it AFTER paying for school... Must be nice.Jay wrote:

Yeah people who went to the military for their school are the biggest moochers around. They let the military take care of them for a few years and then come back here expecting a free ride through college. Leeches.HITNRUNXX wrote:

There's no way that's true. My friend in Texas is only getting ~$800 a month in living expenses and she's going to school full time. I received $3600/mo because I went to school in NYC and I had the ACF when I joined. How much you make is based on your cost of living and whether you are full time or not. So no, your co-worker is lying.HITNRUNXX wrote:

She is only going 1 night a week, but it is on an accelerated program that is considered a full time schedule for a master's degree. She also gets disability from the military... I don't know if that is added in to the number she says or not though.Jay wrote:

So this first year you have to get a day job to pay for your meals, rent, ammunition, and other things while you are serving? I was mostly trolling but at the same time...you guys are getting taken care of while you are serving.eleven bravo wrote:

BAH for OKC is $1100/mo
If she had the $50k Army College Fund bonus that I had, it's possible she can get close to like $1900/mo (tax free btw). She'd only collect full BAH if she was full time. So I guess it's possible.

If is an AF thing, I don't know if that makes a difference... I don't know if they use the same program... She is the queen of getting everything for nothing though. Makes more money than I do with less seniority (I promoted up, so I had no options, she came in at my level which allows you to negotiate a higher starting salary.) She collects 2 different disability checks. Military payment for school. Child support. And is about to take out an ADDITIONAL government school loan since it covers "transportation" so she can buy a brand new car at a 1% interest rate.Jay wrote:

I love it best when she complains to me about not making enough money as a single mother of 1.
wtf could she possibly have done to earn disability in the chair farce? I hate people like thatHITNRUNXX wrote:

No comment on the disability...
*Shrug* on the rest... She mentioned once it was some kind of veteran's fund, and she could get up to $25K total... *shrug*
