Not sure why you think the govt should help you live somewhere expensive.Jay wrote:
If I lived elsewhere I wouldn't make that $110k. Money is relative. The fact that our income tax system doesn't account for cost of living is the biggest fuck up imo. Someone in Florida can have the same quality of life as me while making half the pay. I'll get taxed at 33% and he'll pay 0. It's fucked up. Salary by itself is just a number, you have to factor in cost of living before declaring that someone has enough?
They shouldn't help me, they just shouldn't penalize me.Dilbert_X wrote:

The tax break for my medical insurance is being cut so gay couples can get a tax break

I could've easily received disability for my knees but I consider disability akin to welfare and my pride wouldn't let me take it.FEOS wrote:

The VA makes the disability determination, based on your medical condition pre and post service. Anything that changed (negatively) while you were in service is considered "service related" and thus contributes a percentage to your disability assessment. It's not just about being wounded in combat.
Although I agree there are many, many people who abuse that system to maximize their post-service benefits. One guy I know got out, is perfectly healthy, but the VA said he had 50% disability. Hearing or something, plus a knee or something that bothers him once in a while. I would consider that "getting older," not service-related.
And there are plenty of aviators who earned real disability: constant g's screwing up your back, ejections fucking up everything else. Other specialties jump out of perfectly good airplanes and get hurt in vehicle roll-overs: those things aren't unique to the Army, Jay.
Regardless, there are people from every service who abuse the VA disability system. And it annoys me greatly, regardless of branch of service.
It's absolutely pointless to ever try talking to you. I knew this, and yet I responded. Why? Useless cunt.Dilbert_X wrote:

You knew the deal when you moved there, you know the deal in Florida, pick one and stop expecting the govt to subsidise your choices.
Typical 'Libertarian'....

I'm talking about federal income tax. Y'all skate by with paying less in federal taxes than those of us in expensive parts of the country.13rin wrote:
Don't blame Florida for not having the same retarded tax laws as New York. Florida doesn't even have a State Income Tax.
