Maybe if it was a mammal or some higher life form I might feel more strongly, but even then, animals =/= humans in my book. Morality does not apply.
morality always applies
I meant to principals of morality applied to humans cannot be extended to animals.

Human morality does not apply.

Yes, I've hand picked chickens, goats, pigs, and even a cattle for slaughter and seen there throat slit or head shot(cow).
yeah but torturing a cat for sexual pleasure is a bit different than killing an animal for food.

its like comparing a cia torture expert to the dude in silence of the lambs, ones a job and the others a mental disorder.

I know some think human morality should apply to animals, which is why I made the statement I did.

It's my opinion that unless they are self-conscious they are property, yes. You OWN a pet like a cat or dog. You do not own an ape.
I know people that own apes

Regard for nature is a luxury item. When you're grubbing about in the dirt, philosophical dilemmas regarding the future, nature, space exploration, whatever, aren't foremost in ones mind. Don't get upset when everyone isn't as soft and sensitive as you are
Yeah, just like with my appreciation for human rights, I'm not going to disregard my own set of values when I react to reading about stuff like this. Not that I'm surprised that it's China. Would've be my first guess if no country was named.
