Anybody ever worked at Dick's Sporting Goods?

There's a new location opening up in a neighboring city about 10 minutes away and I'm thinking about working there as a "Freight Flow Associate", so I'd basically be unloading boxes and stuff. How much would that pay btw?

That's what I would figure it probably would be, that's gonna suck but I don't have the patience for being a cashier and I don't think A+ certification by itself is enough for a real IT job

If you're still in school I would recommend working in a book store. You can get a huge discount on textbooks if your manager is cool, plus the work is dirty-easy and provides ample time to study while on-the-job. Tis how my sister gets her beer money.

yep. the title of the job always makes it seem way cooler than it is (on the other hand, this is handy when you need to "embellish" on your resume)

I did. Without any certs, just self-taught knowledge. Just kept trying and impress people at interviews (no they won't come often without experience or a good amount of certs so take advantage when they do)

I'm actually not in school, I had way too many developmental classes to take and I just don't have the drive to apply myself to get through that and all the other unnecessary core studies shit, so I'm just gonna get a job and get some certifications, and go off of experience from there and hopefully it'll be enough.

And if I have to go back to college, hopefully I'll at least feel more driven to actually get through it by that point

Federal minimum wage is $7.25, it's impossible to get paid less than that unless you work in the restaurant industry where it is implied that you make tips

Yeah, that's what I'm sayin though, I'd like to be a little happier with life before I do it, I need some motivation, things can't just suck all the way through until I'm like 24 or whatever, that's fucking ridiculous

If you need the money, work wherever you can while you finish your education and get a degree/highfalutin certification or two. A+ is just basic competency stuff, but a computer repair shop might take you. Add a Net+ to that and you'll be one step out of the hole.
