1) your subways, while nicer, don't run 24/7
2) the fucking escalators take about 4 minutes to go down even if you walk
3) i've seen crazy people on the DC metro even at the nice areas like tenleytown
actually, when my friend from American came to visit me in NYC last year when i was going to Pace, she encountered her first NYC subway psychopath...a guy yelling at everyone and anyone about... anything, pretty much

2) yeah the escalators fucking blow, especially cos they're breaking down all the time. i think one broke down a month after it was repaired. WMATA is horribly managed.
3) I guess I've tuned them out :S but generally I haven't seen fights and shit. I commuted on it for a year and the worst was a homeless guy begging for money and these teens running a scam.
