I never post here because it's pretty pointless - but since everyone is talking about the squads i thought i'd share my idea in the appropriate place.

I don't think it's a big deal that people can cycle squads and squad leaders, but I think there's a better solution to some people's concerns than to eliminate that.
Here's what I propose:

Anybody can create a squad, any rank,
As soon as that person dies the squad leader positions gets automatically transferred to the person with the highest rank that's still alive (order of succession) - and this happens every time a squadleader dies
and that's it.

so if you have that guy in your squad that's in a totally different part of the map and your assault team dies, you get to go spawn on him... but that would make things more interesting, it would probably lead to people working together better as a squad (because that would annoy the majority of BF2 players).. and it would make some kind of sense from a military perspective...

Thats fine, as long as you cant switch squads while dead.

I think a squad leader should be able to step down while still remaining in the squad, the same way a commander can resign.

Sounds good on paper, but what will happen is more people will lock their squads so they can spawn on their buddies without a third party interfering. Not conductive to teamwork.

Had the same thought as you on this, glad to see it's not completely harebrained, or if it is, I'm not alone.

It sounds like a good idea, but then the squad leader gets transferred to the Lt.-Col. planewhoring dick.
