t was just last week that Mike Capps, President of Epic Games, appeared as a keynote speaker at the latest iPad announcement, an event that saw him speak effusively about the platform, noting, "New iPad has more memory or screen resolution than either the Xbox 360 or the PS3."
We've got more today from Mr. Capps on the device's gaming future, along with similar sentiments from executives from EA and Crytek, all of which comes by way of Reuters.
Mr. Capps on the iPad as a home for legitimate 'Triple-A' games:
"Apple is definitely building their devices as if they care a lot about 'triple-A' games. It is quite easy to imagine a world where an iPad is more powerful than a home console, where it wirelessly talks to your TV and wirelessly talks to your controller and becomes your new console."
Mr. Capps, who has appeared as a keynote speaker at each of the three iPad announcements, would seem to have a better idea than most with regard to Apple's plans in the gaming space. His company's success with the Infinity Blade series on the iPad also lends Mr. Capps credibility, as does Epic's prowess as industry leaders in graphical tech.
EA executive Frank Gibeau agrees with Mr. Capps.
"When the iPad gets to the processing power that's equal to an Xbox 360 and it connects to a television, that's no big deal to us. We'll put the game through the iPad and have it display through the television."
Also chiming in was Studio Manager Kristoffer Waardahl of Crytek, who was quoted as saying, "As more people come to these platforms, we have to follow our fans."
