Because there is nothing to know about fairy tales!

You either believe in Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf or not.
Same goes for religion. You either believe whatever the clergy people tell and read to you from books like the Bible, the Quran and all the others or not.
You can't deduce everything by yourself, you will always go in circles, back to the same book that somebody wrote at some point.

Astronomy, physics and all the other sciences on the other hand...
You can actually do that.
That is, if you had all the time, you could start from the basics from early science and work your way up to today's science.
It's simply that you don't need to do it again for everything that has been done in the several thousand years and has proved to be obviously correct.

You can believe your maths teacher that 1+1=2.
You can believe Pythagoras that a2+b2=c2.
And so on, without the need to deduce everything yourself.

That's basically the difference between dogmatic religion and peer-reviewed, fact-based scientific work.

Although, those fields of cosmology and quantum mechanics don't have an imminent influence in daily life any time soon.
