iPads are like $200 anyway. For a few extra you can get an xbox and play much better games than the limits a dumb iPad can give you. Not to mention if they increase the specs they'll have to increase the price too. Consoles will have to implement more features if they want to compete with iPads though. Like how the xbox now has youtube and facebook.

They will probably still be bigger, but also have a lot more you can do in the GAMING market... The iPad would definitely win in the PORTABLE TABLET market though. But that is what it is built for. The Xbox 360 isn't.

Large harddrive.
Super large games.
Loan friends games.
Complexity of controls versus a tap tap control.

Simple mind numbing time wasting games.
Surfing the internet for quick things when I don't want to boot my laptop.
Turn based games with friends.
Typing up meeting notes.

Like more about my android phone:
Talking to people.
Texting.
Surfing the internet while away from other surfing tech.
Mind numbing simple time wasting games.
Playing turn based games with friends.
Email.
MORE Portability.
Listening to music as it docks in my car.
Listening to music as it docks in my home theater.
Listening to music with headphones while working.
So for the most part, An Xbox 360, My Smart Phone, and some paper and pen cover my needs better than an iPad that dabbles in each. BUT hey, it can do some of each, so that isn't bad either.
But I will but an XBox 720 before I buy an iPad 5...
