Having not read the books..I remember the red woman telling the son that to die in fire is the cleanest death. So she had foreknowledge of what was going to happen. I am going to assume this battle lose wasn't the end of Stannis's war.

I knew that the Lannisters would win simply because they had more main character's on their side. 6 important characters for the Lannisters, and only two for Stannis.

That being said, I thought it was strange that only Davos got killed, and even that was ambiguous enough that he might be alive.
