Hello,

This is all new to me, however me and the other half are looking at getting a couple of Beardies. (To many arguments over cats & dogs) They will be about 4 months old and from some one who has just had a load hatch

I had a look at a video from Northampton reptile centre.
I got most of the parts off of Amazon or Ebay.
The tank l did get was lower than one on the video. Its still 4ft wide but has a height of about 1.5ft (Vivexotic LX36). However read reviews on it and people seem to think their Beadies enjoy it.

I placed in the tank
1x Ceramic heater (100watts) with a Habistat thermostat set at 80F
2x 60 Watt basking bulbs
1x 10.00 UVB 24inch stripe bulb

I did a trial run with the 2 basking bulbs on and the area got to over 110F. I turned one off and after a while it dropped down to 105f. When the basking bulb is on the Ceramic turns off.
The cold end was running at 80f

Forgot to mention the lights will be on a timer from 07:00 till 20:00hrs
Any advice and thoughts on the set up will be grand thanks.

If by a couple you mean two, then this tank should be more than big enough. In fact, it's massive.
A friend of mine had one bearded dragon and his tank was a couple of inches shorter and he only used 1 40W bulb (i also use 40W, and would recommend it for just about every tank) and a heated rock (i use one as well) to give them a place to heat up when all the lights shut off at night.

I see that you don't have any kind of water container or any sand. Now i'm assuming you have both and that the pic is just to display the light setup.
If you do, make sure that you refill the water like every day or two (I imagine it will vaporise a lot quicker in your tank than in mine, so i reckon it's a daily task for you) and clean it at least once a week.

Bearded dragons are real easy and get used to humans and their touch quite quickly. You'll have tons of fun with them

Yep have a water and food dish. Also a large Cricket keeper for live scoff.
For the time being l was going to use kitchen towel until they were about 6months old and then look at wood chip or sand.

The Ceramic bulb will be on 24/7 to supply the heat at night (seems to turn off when the basking bulb is on).

When they are older l'm think of cutting the wood down and using 2 basking rocks so they don't fight. The 40watt basking bulb is a good thought thanks mate.

That might be a little too high.
Temperature plays an important role to your iguana’s long term and overall health. Iguanas are cold blooded and do not possess the ability to regulate internal temperatures, so they rely on their environment. Iguanas regulate their body temperature by basking in temperatures above 85 degrees, sometimes as high as 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Daytime temperatures should range between 85-95 degrees with a basking point of 110-115 degrees. Nighttime temperatures should not drop below 70-75 degrees. Iguanas should be provided fourteen hours of daylight, and ten hours of night light.
yeah, bearded dragons and iguanas are two different animals but 110F average seems too high. Using just one 100 watt bulb I get a temperature of around 90F. If they are on their heat rocks they probably get over 100F. The ceramic heater just seems like overkill.

My brother keeps two bearded dragons. They're very small at the moment but he loves them.

If I were you I would consider getting a second tank to keep crickets in. They don't take much maintenance and will save you money on buying from the local pet store.

edit: read your second post, you seem to know what you're doing!

Have you thought about getting a male/female pair?
