Budget: $600 (or a bit over if it gets me something significantly better)

My mobo just fried and likely, a bunch of other parts. I was already in need of an upgrade (though I had wanted to wait longer...) so I'm just going to replace most of my very aged system. I need to get it up and running as fast as possible for work.

I've been out of the upgrade loop for a while, so I'm not sure if these are good/affordable picks. Rig will be used for lots of Photoshop and a decent amount of gaming

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1tb (there's a combo deal with a Seagate of similar stats, are they still semi-unreliable?)

TT Black Widow 850w (thinking at least 750w for future proofing)

Gigabyte socket 1155

Intel i5-2400 3.1ghz

G.Skill 8gb

Still need: CPU Cooler

EDIT: Ill buy a GPU later, I just need a running system now. Anyone know of any better bang for your buck items?

I have a Seagate and no problems v0v.
You didn't leave much budget space for a GPU so don't see why the future proofing of the psu. That and the i5 model.

Those can both be adjusted, and I can go over by 100ish bucks. don't want to get stuck and another un-upgradeable system. Any other suggested CPUs (and coolers) and PSUs that are cheaper but not too shitty?

EDIT: I guess I don't need a GPU for now, I can just get that later. I really need a running system within the next week.

i cant find a decent review of that psu. however, i found this which fulfills the requirements and a bit cheaper. jonnyguru gave it a 9, thats pretty good!

Well if you are going to grab a GPU later I'd grab these now so you actually have a PSU with plenty of headroom and a CPU and motherboard that will overclock (unlike the i5 2400).

Samsung 1TB F3 - although Seagate Barracudas a fine if you can get one for cheaper)

XFX 850w PSU - as beduin posted, it's a decent PSU and identical to the Corsair TX850.

G. Skill 8GB - good low latency RAM

ASRock Z77 Pro3

Intel i5 3570K

Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler

Total: $600

My $0.02 anyway.
