Retarded people will buy, then complain.

Smart people will skip it to the next, if they don't balls that one up as well. If they do Hello Linux!

I'm sure this has nothing to do with it:

The Windows Store could dent the success of Valve's own online market, Steam, through which players buy games

After GFWL I would avoid that like a smallpox blanket.

I guess this is why he decided to suddenly capitalize on the Linux market finally to make up for lost sales on Windows 8, which I also highly doubt will happen anyway unless MS starts making their prices competitive instead of always being full price like they are on GFWL.  They'll likely have a bunch of Indy sales from all those little BS apps that will inevitably hit the Windows Store though

Definitely the indie market on Steam will be affected.  I intend to put up some apps on the upcoming Win8 app store.

Good luck on the Linux.  No way I'll be bothered to have more than one PC in the house running Linux.  Average household having it?

There's tons of people that have waited for Valve to port Steam and the Source Engine to Linux for a long time but from what the Linux people are saying on relevant sites, Valve is kind of late to the Linux game and there's already competition from Desura and a few others.  Still, their Source Engine exclusives obviously won't come from anywhere else and Linux people can't wait to play those.  Tbh, Left 4 Dead 2 is a rather stupid starting choice for the first port in my opinion, but I guess they felt it would be cheesy if they did Portal again like they did for Mac.

Very exciting to see it finally be ported to all three platforms, hopefully they'll have an easier time with Linux as long as it doesn't run weird code like Mac does; the Mac subforum on the Steam forums is absolutely littered with issues of all kinds, mainly instability, because Valve didn't program enough of it in Cocoa(Mac's happy-code) so they could keep it similar enough with the PC platform.

I think everybody did until they realized Metro was going to be so deliberately forced on everyone.  Adding a ribbon interface to Explorer was just unnecessary as well.  Other than that I love the new changes they've made but it's a shame there isn't any kind of choice for using Metro.

There's an option to switch to the regular taskbar type desktop and from what I've heard there are ways of disabling Metro all together.

They've gotten better over the years.
Used to be "skip three major versions, wait for the 3rd minor bugfix update"

MS-DOS 3.0, skip everything, MS-DOS 6.22, skip everything, Windows 3.11, skip everything, Windows 95 SR2.5.

Then again, from the 80's until mid 90's, all the 'real' computers I worked with ran a Unix variant.
Everything else was an office toy, or video game box.

I've primarily used MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11, 95, 98SESP2, XP and 7. Ran PC-DOS 7 for awhile back in the 90's. Had its uses. Saved a ton of conventional memory for gaming, as i recall.
