I was once on a trip that started at 6pm Saturday and semi-finished at 12pm Sunday. Could not eat the entire time.

Folllowing this I had a jazz gig at 2pm, and just before my 45 minute nap from 12:00-12:45 (after getting lost in the shower, lol) I looked at some words on a page and the letters rearranged themselves into different words. I was quite concerned about my gig as I didn't want my jazz charts for the next three hours to rearrange themselves into different songs, but when I turned up our guitarist had accidentally double booked himself (the only time in six years) and so we could not play the gig as a result. Very fortunate.

I tried sleeping once, at the end of a trip that was still pretty alive. I lay in bed for about an hour an a half and could not tell whether my hands were on top of me or below me, or if I was even on the bed or floating a foot above it. I then went to the lounge and lay in front of the heater for about an hour (it was winter) until I started nodding off on the floor. Mind was just too aware.

Your mindset leading into the experience has waaay more impact on your journey than drinking coffee, or eating, or smoking herb.  That and the potency of the mushrooms should be what you're focusing on, not abstaining from smoking or consuming caffeine.

At least that's what I would say if I had done mushrooms at least 15-20 times, which of course I haven't.

Totally agree with the mindset point though. Set and setting are the two most important thing leading into a trip. Also don't trip if you're already feeling quite tired as this will affect your mindset later in the trip.

Ken, you are 100% correct. Mood + setting trumps all other factors.

That's what my friends who've done it have all said. If you go into it anxious or upset you get a bad trip. If you go into it with an open mind and know that it'll all be alright, you get a good trip. They also said to only be around other people who'll be tripping for the duration of it since apparently you can get really anxious or some shit when you're around folks who you know aren't tripping.

That last part is bollocks as I've been tripping at a music festival, in a pub and at a night club but the rest is pretty true.

Apparently Colorado and Washington State have ballot initiatives to legalize recreational pot use this november, and both ballots look like they'll pass. I love states rights

They largely do. Only in rare occasions do they move on operations deemed legal by the state itself.

Their (common) silence is implied consent.

The DEA has raided/shut down hundreds of dispensaries in states that have legalized medical marijuana under Obama.

I'm not saying that people should vote Romney if they care about legalization (lol, seriously lol on that), just that Obama has been a complete disappointment on the issue when many had high hopes.

Being able to legally smoke pot is not worth moving to those states.
